Restart Boinc, this will help. Thanks for the advice; but unfortunately it did not help. After restarting BOINC I allowed the 2 wu's to do some more crunching; but %completed (90% and 1%) remained the same, total cpu went down a great deal (10 hours for the one 90% completed) and time to completion was reduced accordingly - maybe in order to make the 90% and 1 % a constant value :-).
