I've had to lower memory usage to 10% so that the 8 tasks don't over use my RAM?! Each task starts at 10MB of RAM but quickly goes to 450MB EACH! All other projects honor the memory setting except this one. I normally have it at 40% with no problem. Alot of failed tasks so that I've had to reset the project a number of times in the last few weeks.

Rosetta uses more memory than many of the other BOINC projects, the numbers you posted (450MB) seem perfectly normal for the latest generation of Rosetta WUs.
If the memory requirement is too high for your settings, perhaps this could cause the WU to fail due to lack of sufficient resources.

Instead of fighting with memory allocation settings and ending up with failed WUs, I'd suggest perhaps changing the resource-share of your projects so that Rosetta only runs on one core while other less memory-hungry projects can still benefit from your CPU power on other cores.

Rosetta@home preferences does not have number of cpus option only a %. not helpful. I'll be dropping this project

You must edit your BOINC preferences if you want to limit the amount of cores used. But Timo actually sugested that you run Rosetta together with another project, which uses less RAM.
