I have less than the half of the work done while the time is almost all finished... is it a bug or what?!?

Message 11076 - Posted: 21 Feb 2006, 7:08:00 UTC

I thought of opening a new thread, but as I have already this one I'll use this: I had an "Activies suspended" message some moments ago on boinc, without I did absolutely nothing. I tried to stop the work unit and run it again and it functioned, but I don't understand what is this "Activies suspended" message. If I click on Suspend button the message is "Suspended by user", so it has another origin... can anyone tell me?

Look at your messages tab. Do you see this at about the same time you're discussing?

2/21/2006 2:15:56 AM||Suspending network activity - running CPU benchmarks
2/21/2006 2:15:58 AM||Running CPU benchmarks
2/21/2006 2:16:57 AM||Benchmark results:
2/21/2006 2:16:57 AM|| Number of CPUs: 1
2/21/2006 2:16:57 AM|| 2394 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
2/21/2006 2:16:57 AM|| 4448 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU
2/21/2006 2:16:57 AM||Finished CPU benchmarks

If so, Then Boinc suspended activities while it ran a benchmark. It does this when a new boinc version is installed, or every 5 days thereafter.

does this help?

Yes it's like you said. I didn't think of looking at the messages tabs... my bad, I'm still a newbie with BOINC... :)

You will also see that message if you manually suspend BOINC from the commands menu. This deserves another FAQ. Thanks for mentioning it.
