His latest post with the addendum he`s thinking of quitting DC, so come on techies

Still trying to troubleshoot the upload problem.... Re-installed the BOINC manager - zilch upload.... Moved the entire BOINC folder to another puter using a stick drive. Executed BOINC with the same outcome - zilch uploads!

He`s on WLAN with Satellite Broadband East Coast USA....

Af far as we`ve got with all your help......

Error 400 is a HTTP problem

HTTP Error 400
Bad Request. Due to malformed syntax, the request could not be understood by the server. The client should not repeat the request without modifications. Please contact the server's administrator if this problem persists.

Now this could be due to corrupt downloads, he had problems like that a day or so ago, so the server may not recognise his results. Or corrupt uploads.....Server not recognising and refusing them.

It`s a Satellite Broadband system with WLAN...so we`re off back to the drawing board, but just to keep you upto date incase you do come across Error 400....

O.k. bear with me on this...whilst I chat to myself.....

The WU`s must have got in alright as they passed the MD5checksum....but after finishing even taking them to another machine that is a good uploader etc., he got the same error.....Therefore this suggest`s corruption during the work process ?

Anyone ?

THere are some network problems. I see them with my regular browser "hanging" on a random basis. Some of the problems have been traced to, for example, UCB's site for SETI@Home, but others are up in the air.

The problem is that the problems can be "masked" by the error codes varying with -106, 500, 400, -108 and a few others indicating general networking problems.

SOMETIMES, using a Proxy server can help. Other times, well the old proxy server won't work and another proxy has to be tried.

There is the begininngs of a netowrking troubleshooting guide in the Wiki, but as I am not much with networking it has been slow going ...

The main"action" on this seems to be taking place on the SETI@Home boards in the NC forum ... you may get some other tips there ...

I have had a couple WU that fail to upload. Here is the latest. Last time I let this go a couple days then aborted the upload. Is there a better way to deal with this? Here is the message log from this mornings startup. The first failure was my fault I forgot to set my proxy on after docking my laptop at work.

Duh! Brain fart here. Downloads are safer to abort. Aborted it and all cleared up. Work is flowing again. Thanks.
