the program is installed on C drive,
but I want the work to be done on another drive, which has more room.
How do I change drives without removing the program from C drive and installing it to the other drive [or will that not work. . . ]

As far as I know reinstalling BOINC on a different drive is the only way to change the data directory. There are plans to enable the use of a different drive but I don't know when or if this will actually be implemented.
