Rollo, I've attached two AMD64 3700's, one AMD64 2800, and one P4 1.8 to Rosetta, that should start running up the total team score, if you wan't the team that is.

I really don't care about the team. I just wanted to help with the test. If you want to do other tests, I'm glad to leave, thrown out (whatever suits you :).

Okey dokey, why don't you leave the team. I would like to thank you for your participation. It couldn't have been done without you.

let me know when you plan on removing yourself and then again when you've done so. That way I can compare the difference.

Tony

When you get this all sorted out let me know. I want to do a FAQ on this (with proper credit to all who worked on it of course).

Rollo, I've suspended Rosetta on all machines so that my contributions won't be affecting the team totals from here on out. We'll need to know what the totals are just before you quit and then again after you're actually removed from the team. It'd be best if there was a 20 or 30 minute span after your last returned result before you "quit" the team.

That were exactly the numbers before I quit. (a short but pleasant stay :)

You've quit? Must take a while to filter through the system. I did a refresh on the team page and:

Interesting, Rollo still shows up as an "active" member, but is no longer on any of my "management" list. This means I can no longer see his email addy, nor remove him as a member. The team did keep the credit he (so graciously) added to the teams total.

Note: just for Rollo's info. I did not record your addy anywhere, and now have no access to it. So, I can't email or spam you, not that I would.

it's the next morning now a and now Rollo is off the books entirely, except the credit he accrued remains with the team:

Off to have at the stats to see if they updated to 5.5... since all my observations have been on the earlier versions.
(just checked, we are still using the older version, Ralph is using the newer version)

Team jumping leaves points behind as previously mentioned. It was only the never been on a team (None -> TeamA). I don't know what happens with TeamA -> None -> TeamB as in what happens with the None to TeamB part points .

I've had a few members join after they started crunching. Specifically Here (Rosetta), Einstein and BBC-CCE

All 3 behaved the same.

Here, there are two examples
FatJack (alias Zillicus) joined well after he started crunching and brought ALL the points with him. This happened at both Rosetta and Einstein.

Two members at BBC-CCE, Andy and Gareth join at ~8000points after tehy started ALL points came with them.

These two backup my None to Team idea.

Also here at Rosetta there is EvoDude who joined my team, I believe from another team and he's since moved across to another team and afaik (though very hard to track) only the points while on the team are still here. I say hard to track as you have no recored of him being here and how many points where contributed by him. This backs up the team swithcing part, but that was direct team switching.

Sorry for not getting back quicker, I'm in the middle of a load of postgrad work.

FluffyChicken, does your team use the xml stats dumps to find team members total, or the html version at the project websites?

P.S I've now quit this team as well and rejoined "boincsynergy".

Just the stats here (since we have no fancy stats of our own) or maybe a 3rd party site (boincstats, synergy, kwsn, free-dc ..)

But having a closer look.

Einstien & BBC-CCE are certainly working the way I describe (they're easy to total up and I know when about people joined)

But you may be right about Rosetta, from a quick calculation we seem to be a little short, but not much. (could be my calculation)
Since I'd seen it happen at Einstein (all points got added), I probably assumed the points also added here (maybe they did and I've added something wrong or it changed mid way through, I only say that as the total is not as far off as I it would expect it to be)
Anyways, the other part is, I assumed what was listed as a persons total was you total in that team (when looing at th team view). Not an overall total since that person started. I assumed this (and I think quite rightly) because I knew that a persons points didn't travel between teams. so your effectively inflating a persons actual position in a team.

So why does it show users total since the start and not since joining the team when we look in team view ? (seems counter intuative)
Why is there no standard across projects ?
How much does fish cost ?

I prefer my way of it working.
- No team -> Team = all points travel when previously in no team (gives some one time to decide on a team and/or they may forget to join up straight away)
- Once in a team, points accured while there stay with them.

Jut wish it was standardised across projects :-(

I didn't join any team from months after starting boinc roughly two years ago. Then I joined boincsynergy. If I/or you go there and look you'll see all my credits listed there. If you look at Rollo's or my listing on this team prior to the awarding of new credit, you'll see all his credit there, but not added to the team total. These stats are taken once/twice a day from the xml stats dump at the team sites/boincstats. I imagine a team site or boincstats could have carried seperate totals for "user total points" and "user points added to team", but I haven't found one yet.

I copied this from the Wiki thing I posted earlier:

except for Climateprediction.net which uses the old SETI@Home Classic rule where the Team's Total Credit is a simple summation of the Total Credit earned by the Participants that are a member of that Team.

Could this explain what you're seeing?

Probably for BBC-CCE but not for Einstein where the same happened. No idea on the people leaving at thoose two as that's not happened yet :-)

Again to me it's a mess ;-)
All project should be the same, so there is no confusion.
When looking at the 'team' view it should only show a members 'team' contribution (I'm talking about project actual stats pages here, 3rd parties can do wat they want, but as far as I know unless a stats site has tracked the changes (like free-dc does) then there is no way of knowing how many points a person has actualyl contributed for a specific team.

I don't even think the XML RPC way of getting the stats does either
