I never bother to look at my messages often.
I did yesterday and there were red messages saying the WU should be aborted because it's over due and I probably won't get credit for it.

How long do you have to process one, or were those ghosts?
Or could this have happend because I tried powering down my hard drive for a while?

Post:
Some MS (microsoft) product is grabbing port 1043 during the boot process before boinc can get it. Port 1043 was assigned from IANA to Boinc, but MS does what they want. I suspect you've either just installed boinc or have performed a windows update reasonably recently.

Boinc has chosen to start using port 31416 instead and have been doing so since Developmental release somewhere around 5.3.?. Boinc version 5.4.6 (the latest developmental release) can be downloaded from here.

NOTE: this is developmental software, use at your own risk.

that said, it's been working fine for everyone I know, and has cured the problem you're seeing for many.

tony

P.S If you aren't comfortable with developmental releases, then just wait a few more days and the new "recommended" version, which is build from this version and earlier ones, should be released.

Wait a COUPLE days??? I can't I'm too competitive! :D

Thank you verrrry much! I'm back on the road! :D :D

I'm not getting anything. No messages, no jobs, (the ones that were in the cue are gone) nothing but can't connect to server. Which looks to me like it's saying BOINC can't connect to my computer. Localhost. I had this problem one other time but I can't remember if it just connected or I reinstalled it.

It did freeze before I rebooted and then it could not connect, or was just stuck on the work unit. It was sitting for about 61 hours on one unit at 1.03%.
I rebooted and it went to 1.04% and sat, I did a couple things and rebooted and BOINC never connected again. It's almost as though the program can't find the w.u.'s

Rosetta is all that's running here.

I've rebooted a few times. Nothing.

Here's my log since the last connection 4 days ago.

I understand you're wanting to help, but you should have asked before you did the work, and now that you did ask and where told "No thank you" your only response should be "Well let me know if you need me in the future"
NOT sign this petition.

I think you have gone way too far with your "enthusiasm". Let it go.

I keep all of these in memory and run the graphics screen saver for 1 hour before going to a blank screen.

And it runs each project for 60 minutes? This sounds like a Rosetta bug.

I run only Rosetta and have only tested the screensaver for short periods. If you change your General Preferences to run each project for more than an hour will the screensaver run longer? (Trying to determine if Rosetta's screensaver won't let it change to the next project as it should.) Is Predictor always the next project in rotation?

This will require the attention of someone from development. Help!

I"m running it because I think it's great, and keeps me motivated to think about running more boxes :D
It doesn't crash, but it was what alerted me to the compliation errors I had a few days ago.

What caused this and what should I do when it happnes?
It happened a couple times yesterday.

This computer doesn't do anything but store my files and run Rosetta. It's running XP Pro.

Dumping it (the corrupt unit) and requesting more work seemed to prohibit my ability to download more work, being penalized by reduced work and my connection put off for hours.

Being competitive ;) and wanting to do a good job, I want to quickly address what ever it is I may be doing wrong.

TIA

If you have computation errors the daily quota reduced by -1, successful results increased by +1.

I didn't have any on this computer. But I think when I was poking around in the files looking at them I might have broken something. :D

I finally cleaned out Rosetta, (from everywhere) and did a clean fresh install.
It's working again! Yeah! When in doubt clean house!

Getting a new application (hence graphics) is a server-driven process; no need to do anything from users [other than crunching]. Once WUs on Work tab are finished, need will be downloaded. You may notice version change on Work tab...now it's Rosetta 4.79

Not me. I just came over here to find out about the screen saver. I have 2 boxes running Rosetta and one has a great screen saver, but the other doesn't.
I've sent results from the one with out the screen saver and it's getting work, but it is still Rosetta 4.8.

What's up?
I also noticed 2ce tonight I've gotten compilation errors on the box that has the screen saver. Any connection?
