Problems and Technical Issues with Rosetta@home
(Message 81519)
Posted 3 May 2017 by J. Ritchie Morrow Post: I keep getting the message that 'Task XX exited with zero status but no finished file. If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.' I have reset the project but continue to get the error. Is this an issue on my end or the project's end? Thanks! |

Not getting new work...
(Message 46952)
Posted 25 Sep 2007 by J. Ritchie Morrow Post: For some reason I am not getting any new Rosetta work and the only thing I can figure out is it has to do with my preference settings. I'm running two projects...SETI and Rosetta. Resource share is 50% for each. Right now SETI's status is set to 'won't get new tasks'...there is no special status for Rosetta. I've run out of Rosetta tasks and they have all been reported so that would tell me I have space for new tasks. Here are my preference settings: Processor usage Do work while computer is running on batteries? (matters only for portable computers) yes Do work while computer is in use? yes Do work only between the hours of (no restriction) Leave applications in memory while suspended? (suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') yes Switch between applications every (recommended: 60 minutes) 60 minutes On multiprocessors, use at most 2 processors Use at most Enforced by version 5.6 and greater 100 percent of CPU time Disk and memory usage Use at most 50 GB disk space Leave at least (Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 0.001 GB disk space free Use at most 85% of total disk space Write to disk at most every 360 seconds Use at most 75% of page file (swap space) Use at most Enforced by version 5.8 and greater 75% of memory when computer is in use Use at most Enforced by version 5.8 and greater 100% of memory when computer is idle Network usage Connect to network about every (determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days) 10 days Confirm before connecting to Internet? (matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection) no Disconnect when done? (matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection) yes Maximum download rate: no limit Maximum upload rate: no limit Use network only between the hours of Enforced by versions 4.46 and greater (no restriction) Skip image file verification? Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example). Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. no I know they are a little screwy but I've been trying to trouble shoot on my own with no success. If anyone has any suggestion I sure would appreciate it...thanks! |

Connection Error
(Message 11762)
Posted 7 Mar 2006 by J. Ritchie Morrow Post: Nope, not using ZoneAlarm. Would some other program act this way? Are you using ZoneAlarm? Did you allow the client to run as a server? The BOINC Manager communicates with the applications via internal sockets connections. So they run across TCP, even though not using the internet at that point. If you're ZoneAlarm settings have blocked that from happening, then the manager can't get the status from the client. |

Connection Error
(Message 10243)
Posted 31 Jan 2006 by J. Ritchie Morrow Post: I downloaded BOINC to a new computer. When I try attaching to a project I get the error message "BOINC manager is currently not connected to BOINC client." Any idea how to resolve this? Thanks! |
