I don't know what could have caused this. I think the team founder has the ability to change the team name and remove members. Does anyone know who the Teddies founder was before the switch?

Why should we all have moved out at the same moment on feb 15th 2008?

Have a look here

http://www.boincsynergy.com/stats/team-movements.php?project=rah&team=559

and then look at your database....

The BOINC server code wouldn't reuse a team number.... would it?

What is the Rosetta team ID number in question here?

Team number was 559 according to my old link at boincstats...

Optimized clients are not relevant, Movieman stated the new credit system would be used. Let's not rehash how or why the optimized app came to be.

Now I think You are overreacting Ethan....
I didn't use any offending words.

Movieman, I have no probs with unhiding my crunchers. I did hide them because there are a lot of "dead" crunchers listed. At home I do TSC and at work I have 9 Sempron 2800+ crunching Rosetta under LTSP.

So Morphy, will you join me in asking for a BOINC free Rosetta or if not for a closed source BOINC with heavy encryption?

YES

Or better still: wil you join me in calling for credit-free DC Projects? Hey , it is the science that matters , not the credits :)

NO :)

Your teammate has directly accused ALL that use optimized clients as cheats; no if or buts. So he is accusing ANY and ALL the members members of your team that use or have used the optimized clients of being cheats. That is the only logical conclusion that can follow from his statement:

"Getting more credits for the same work by using "optimized clients" than others using the normal clients is cheating. That's a fact and not a lie.... "

So, nice teamate.

It doesn't matter whether I'm a nice teammate or not...
And if my english is to bad (again) how do You call it what I call cheating? Legal action because some (many) are able to install a Boinc client others can't because they have no time or skills to do so?
What means "allowed by the project leaders"? Are they able to allow or deny by words and force us to do something? No... They want the work done and don't want people to leave if they forbid optimized clients.

And to make my point clear: Why should others get more credits for the same work done? The same work!

So please proove to me that an optimized client makes the results of Rosetta better or has any other useful implementation for the science and I'll apologize...

At TSC it is possible to crunch 2000 WU's in a bunker and then upload the results again and again to push the stats. It must be legal because the project leaders aren't able to do something against it in the short run. How would You call people doing this?

And now back to work....

And calling a person that uses an optimized client a cheat , is a lie.

No, it's the truth.....

Hello,

DPC created an automated installer, i think this will be helpful.
And about the host for coordinating volunteers, i got my own website hosting package and i have room for you guys, just msg me or something :)

Pardon my ignorance but what is 'DPC' ? Thank you...

If you mean 'Distributed computing' then of course I understand...

It may have something to do with growing pains - a sudden increase in participants will stress any project. (And DO NOT read anything team- or user-specific into that statement - I am NOT pointing fingers!)

Dr. Baker wanted the crunchers from FAD with their power and he got the power....
So it's his problem to keep the crunching customer satisfied....

But for days now there's silence in the forest regarding the staff.....

Would that be the 14 "Teddies" or the other 36,800+ customers?

At least the Teddies... ;-)) And I don't care much about the other 36,800 customers? ... If they want to behave like stupid crunching cattle it's their choice...

BTW My English is known as pretty bad but I translate customer to "Kunde/Verbraucher". If You think that we are customers in this meaning You're on the wrong lane. I don't need them but they need me/us to do the job. I'm only customer of the software they provide.

Here's an idea - why don't YOU contribute by writing a better forum, fully integrated with the BOINC software, and submit it to the dev mailing list for consideration as the standard? If your idea has the merit, it should be considered, yes? Do you need the links to the open-source repository?

I need no links, thanks. But why should I? For sure I can do the job because it's my profession but I see no need to take another burden on my spare free time....

I left Rosetta (for a while) because 20 out of 30+ machines were out of work yesterday morning....

Why do so many people complain about the "no work from project" message? There's more work out there we can crunch in the foreseeable future. BOINC ist designed for multi project use, so why don't you simply attach a fallback project with a 10% share? It's a matter of minutes and your hosts will never be idle again..

I'm fed up with this ranting! Let the admins do their work to improve the project an don't steal their time with non-existant problems. They know about the "no work" message and try to solve this issue (among others)

I can't believe that there are grown-up people complaining about the board layout and subforums. This is ridiculous!!

BTW: I never ran out of Rosetta-WUs. Sure, I got the no work message but with my 1 day cache my hosts always had at least 1 Rosetta WU.

I didn't rant. I just stated a fact and why. And I said that I'll be back when the new servers are online.
And I do only one project at a time.
And it's my legal right to state facts, make suggestions and rant about this forum style.
So where's Your problem?

Thanks Scribe and carl.h, When I get some time soon, I will come up with some titles and post them up for comments before making them official.

carl.h or anyone else who is getting the "No work.." problem, are you still seeing this at a problematic rate (a few here and there is not so bad as long as the client always has work). I modified the feeder last night to enumerate through 5000 results/wus instead of 1000 per database query. The feeder does not send work during the db query and unfortunately, the query takes a while on our current db server, so I hope this change will help.
