I applied to become founder in Team Teadies at a time, when the team has been already inactive. The apply have been done in legal way and if a team founder have been fulfilling his basic responsibilities, he would not allow the transfer. I applied for founder right in good faith, that it is in interest of BOINC in general to pick up again on team, which came far and become inactive. Getting founders rights in this inactive team helped to make visible small but very active team from small country. Hysteria around this transfer is perplexing, when you realize, that BOINC is voluntary without possibility of profit. With BOINC we entertain ourselves. We bring stir into world of BOINC, hand to hand with it we sometimes put out of countenance somebody. We did nothing illegal, so the word “theft” in this contribution hurts us. Still we are willing to give the person Scribe back this with care maintained team, if he pledges himself to remain active (as founder and as team), and will fulfill his responsibilities (as founder), which we will without doubt test. As we are on holidays, the transfer can not be accomplished before the end of July 2008.

If he pledges himself??
I want some of the stuff this guy is smoking!
He's either delusional or outright nutso...

Amazing... Truly amazing... You'd think of the 750 people that viewed/read this thread at least one would have been from upper management... Oh wait, There isn't any upper management here... Baker's out traveling the World, taking bows for all HIS stupendous achievements in suckering "HIS Children" into crunching here, burning THEIR resources, THEIR financial resources, etc, etc;... Simply amazing... All bow to the King!

Am I upset? Yes, On might say that...

I am just wondering if any of you can comment on whether or not you left the team.

I didn't leave the team, just quit running Rosetta because of the gigantic W/U size creating a log jam of my ISP connection and causing me to exceed hughes's Satellite Fair Access Policy... (which I no longer suffer...)

"Sounds fishy" is exactly right... I think somebody seized the opportunity to grab a team with points while nobody was home... Inside job?

The BOINC server code wouldn't reuse a team number.... would it?

What is the Rosetta team ID number in question here?

My question is why was it available for use in the first place to be reassigned? The last time I looked there was still members contributing...

I understood the question and agree team IDs shouldn't be reused. And I agree with Pepo that this sounds like the result of a SW bug of some kind. I was just hoping that we could gather all the information about whether team members still exist, what exactly the team ID is/was, and etc. to help track down such a bug.

I can assure you all team members are alive and well... They may not be crunching for Rosetta at the moment, but regardless, It's still the Teddies team, and accumulated points, not Space Families @ Roesetta@Home's...

Actually I use Grisoft's AVG free edition AntiVirus program and ZoneAlarm firewall. I don't really need either as my ISP (Hughes.net) filters most of the junk and hackers before the even get to me... What they don't catch my Network Router does...

I have 30 machines in my home that crunch Rosetta 100%, 24/7 except when I have one or another down for preventative maintenance every month or two....

Pffffew... 30 machines? Definately I want to see a picture of those 3 in your bathroom... ;-)
You MUST get special rates from your electric company :-D
[...]
[edit: typo]

Electricity costs? Bah! Here's the *real* money question for you folks with many windows machines: How do you pay for all the antivirus/firewall/whatever? What does Norton charge per machine these days? $60/year * 30 machines = $1800! (just a what-if) Or do you just hang out nekkid behind a NAT and let it all hang out?

Well if you really must know, yes, I'm naked but plan on getting dressed soon as I have to go to buy 3 or 4 more machines...

(what's this guy think I am, stupid??)

With the recent round of Windows fixes/updates I've had several machines do the same thing on reboot, though I think it's more a matter of files getting corrupted than forgetting where it was... It's probably from BOINC shutting down on command and Rosetta stays running...

Senatoralex85 asked:
Vanita,

How different is the androgen receptor protein in the male prostate different than a similiar protein in a female that has an estrogen receptor? I ask this because there are several well known treatments for post-menopausal women to prevent breast cancer (Tamoxifen, Arimidex, Aromasin) however I do not know of any medications treating older males that are at risk for developing prostate cancer?

Ehhh, Senator? Vantia's post was done 5 months ago?...

That's really not true... After I'd installed BOINC and Rosetta on several of my machines I decided to added another hard drive to those machines with less that 100GB's (two being external drives). I then exited BOINC after restarting, moved the entire folder to the new drive, switched paging to the new drive, restarted BOINC and everything worked fine... <shrug>
