I'm getting "Can't open log file" and a "Project is down" so I assume we aren't out of the woods just yet...

Well, I am happy to say that I have WUs that uploaded (even ones that were stuck halfway through an upload for days), reported, and new ones downloaded. I was expecting some sort of delay with the usual feeding frenzy after an outage, but none was to be found whatsoever.

Thanks to the Rosetta crew for giving up your weekend to get things back on track.

Here's to you!

Personally, I think it comes down to an individual's preference. What are you willing to sacrifice? Will you use your 3 GHz machine for gaming online and expend all that electricity for mere entertainment?

If everybody obtained the most efficient computer for crunching and trashed their old computers, just think of the resources needed for production and the waste in the old boxes. The initial investment has already been made for the sub-GHz boxes out there, so if it can contribute in a timely manner, so be it. Now, my parent's Apple IIGS running at 2.6 MHz might be pushing it... But where is the line drawn? It's a personal choice.

Although my two 266 MHz boxes will probably be only running at night, utilities hate high demand during the day in the summer.

(p.s. to MattDavis - I cannot stop thinking about Team America when I see your name, think "Matt Damon"... HA!!! oh what a great flick...)

Intermittent server problem or maybe they're still working on it. Now the downloads are working as of this post though...

Still cannot get downloads to complete. Some files have partially downloaded but are now stuck and won't make progress, other projects d/l just fine.

...one's computer may be asleep for hours or days (3-day weekend?).

...or a four day weekend... :(
I have my computer at work set up and running a CPDN-SA model which was almost done and I expected my model to be finished when I got back from Thanksgiving break on Monday. It lost the connection to localhost at about 7:30 pm, Wednesday, a couple hours after I left for the long weekend. The model finally finished this morning tho... Four days of a 3.06 Ghz dual processor sitting idle is painful.

Earlier this week I found out that one of my projects had the hostid set to zero. I changed it to what it should be and now the manager hasn't dropped it's connection yet. We shall see what the weekend brings.

I'm not sure how detailed it can get, but maybe a cc_config.xml file could shed some light on the subject. I've noticed the same disconnection from localhost as well. Since you claim it's tied with network activity, I wonder if limiting to only 1 file transfer at a time will have an effect, or limiting the file transfer rates.
