The last three of my 4.06-WUs (967991507, 967991500 and 967991525) all errored out after a few seconds with the following message or similar:
ERROR: Error in simple_cycpep_predict app: The N-methylation position indices must be within the pose!
ERROR:: Exit from: src/protocols/cyclic_peptide_predict/SimpleCycpepPredictApplication.cc line: 1399

BOINC:: Error reading and gzipping output datafile: default.out
08:35:42 (30370): called boinc_finish(1)

Four others (967991472, 967991483, 967991493 and 967991490) are currently running without problems. I fail to see any pattern in the list on my host in regard of names or such. I have to wait for approximately another 6-10h for the first of the currently running to see whether it will error out later.

Physical it is a same machine?

It's the same physical machine, and I aborted the WUs stat had not started (or nearly, one had a few minutes on the counter).
I don't intend to test anything here, that's what Ralph is made for. No testing whatsoever should take place in Rosetta proper.

Add my machine (ubuntu and a Win7-VM) to the affected ones as well.

It runs with 7.0.28 on both OS, both have no probs in other projects in regard with this.

I have the same problem. See my Result page if you want more information.

Same here on Linux.

Edith says:
You have to link host results, account results are hidden to all other users.
See here for me: account and host

I would like to know what is the best to do.

My computer is ALWAYS open.

I would like to know if it is better for Rosetta to run a longer(1 day) task or a shorter(3 hours) one?

Is there a difference on the RAC ?

OK, it's kind of necrophilia to answer now on the original question, but....

In the current situation you would probably have been better of with longer runtimes, and the server is definitely better of with less connections that run alongside longer runtimes.

I've set my preferences to 20h on my 24/7 machine, and on 1h on my parents seldom running one.

So lets wait, see and drink tea.

Tea finished and RALPH online again.
HTML, UL, reporting, all fine.
THX to whoever :)

And not recovered from the server mess yet.
Any news or estimates about required tea amounts until recovery?

I saw something by MOD in another thread somewhere that made it sound like this section of the server is not monitored by the status script. Almost sounded like a sub system. **MOD - if your reading this can you repost what you wrote over in that other thread that I do not remember???**

I may have just pointed out that "upload server" or anything similar, does NOT appear in the list of server statuses. I'm not sure why, and not in a position to address the problem personally.

Yes, an entity called "Upload Server" doesn't appear on that page, but it could be just something not shown on srv4, which I guess is a name of a physical machine or partition.

As you can see, on srv3 are more than one "servers" located.
If they have lost one machine entirely, and put the stuff on another one, they may have forgotten, that some old results still have the referrer srv5 in it. Shit happens, especially in busy times.

I still can't upload an old result, although a newer one has successfully uploaded.
The old one still gets the "upload handler not present" message, the newer on didn't.

Is it possible that you somehow changed something in the upload handler URL, so that it would not be found? In my client_state.xml the right path is given as this:
<url>http://srv5.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/file_upload_handler</url>
I can't find the srv5 on the server status page, should I change the number to "4"?

I've got some of those low-paying buggers as well on one computer, as on the other one other projects run as well, and the WUs are set to 20h, it will take some time yet for the one there to finish.

OK, that one was one of the faulty ones as well. It finished tonight and got far too little credit without doing something obviously wrong.

This one (celldivs_LL_1de2_2nn8_ProteinInterfaceDesign_26Oct2010_22394_263_0) got 0,22 credits for an hour of crunching, this one (celldivs_LPr_1de2_1v7r_ProteinInterfaceDesign_26Oct2010_22395_23_0) got 6,78, appropriate would have been ~20 per WU or hour.
And this two (PCS_2RN2_v1.frag_41-81_SAVE_ALL_OUT_22378_13_0 and PCS_CGR26A_trim_v1.frag_73-129_SAVE_ALL_OUT_22378_29_0) crunched for several hours despite the 1h limit set to the venue and got credits like it crunched just this 1h.

I'm currently unable to connect with the web site over on Ralph@home, or connect to its servers. Is there a problem over there?

RALPH@home is now running again. No word yet on what caused the outage, only that there was one.

RALPH@home is now unreachable again.

Confirmed, neither Upload nor HTML-contact possible.

I am continually getting the following message:

Sun 15 Feb 18:11:49 2009|rosetta@home|Scheduler request failed: HTTP gateway timeout.

I've checked the server status etc and no problems seem to be on that side. I've reset the project, detached and re-attached etc etc to no avail, any ideas ?

Server status says Disabled everywhere.

As you can see on the server status page everything besides this Data-driven web pages is Disabled (though marked green instead of red).

I've got a WU waiting to upload as well, would like to know for how long.

Another good reason for a name change is project diversification.

Start a team @Einstein with the name of "Gravitation Nerds", after some time you want to do more astro stuff and start over @Cosmo, Milky, BRaTS, Orbit, perhaps even Seti and want to change the name accordingly to "Astronomical Nerds". Then, some time further down the road, you want to go BOINC wide, and want to change again to something along "Distributed Nerds". Imho all those changes are valid, and should be possible. They should not be possible necessary with just one click, security tops convenience, but it should be possible nevertheless.

What I do not agree with is the ability for the founder to up and boot a member from the team. For whatever reason a founder might want to boot someone does not change the fact that that person has contributed to that team's score.
Their work is still part of the team's stats, but the name is gone.
Even if the contributor moves to another team, their contribution to the first team's stats remains there.

We (SETI.Germany) had a member once in our team, even a founder in one project, that we one day became aware of that he was a Nazi. Of course we wanted to get rid of him asap, and it was only possible via this feature. I really don't see the problem with this, you somehow have to get rid of spammers, nazis, racists and other scum once you know about them, or, for corporate teams, perhaps to get rid of crunchers from competitors.

As there is no entrance controll by the founder, everybody can join and leave as s/he pleases, at least this last resort has to possible.

To allow a name change only via admin would have brought some hassle to some admins of projects where I founded teams, as in the beginning I sometimes misspelled our team name, i.e. Seti.Germany instead of SETI.Germany. Such things can happen, especially in big, more decentralised teams like ours.

So imho the best bet is to disable the founder change automatism completely and inpose a bit more hassle on teams (and admins) in the few cases no friendly takeover is possible.
