it is likely that damn MS one care... I never trust those multiple programs... it is likely blocking boinc from being accessed because it is a msi installer

What exactly is the difference? Do we get a better calculation or 'nicer' wu if we set it to 24 hours rather than 1 hour??

Please let me know
4) Questions and Answers : Wish list : longer deadline (Message 19385)

BOINC is handling the scheduling and downloading. There isn't anything Rosetta can do for your situation, they presently need the results back sooner, so they have to set 7 day deadlines.

I still wish all projects would give similar deadlines, at least 2 weeks... rosetta is the odd man out here and I wish that would change.

I wish we had more than a couple days for a deadline because I run multiple projects and every time I try for a cache larger than 0.5 days, it downloads many many rosetta wu;s and then only works on this one project becuase the computer is suddenly over commitedd because every projects gives at least 2-3 weeks, but not rosetta.... only a few days...

Please fix this problem!!
thanks.

If you click the "Participants" link at the top of most all the pages, and you have completed the login to the Rosetta website, it will show your account profile in a single click from most anywhere on the site.

Oh OK, that was simple enough... on the SETI website it takes you another place so I am not used to that... thanks

I wish you would put a link to our account in the top menu... you have everything else except the "my account" option. So we have to go to the main page, then hit the my account.

It would just be a little easier.
thanks

9) Questions and Answers : Windows : rosetta problems (Message 16375)
Posted 16 May 2006 by nightowl - i5-750
Post:
A couple months ago, very quickly after joining rosetta, I stopped running it because it always came up with several errors. I now have it running on my x2 3800 and every morning when I wake up I see that error box saying rosetta caused a problem and had to be terminated.

What is causing this? I will be forced to shut this project off yet again if the problems arent fixed.

10) Questions and Answers : Windows : 50/50 failure rate (Message 10263)

so you're saying that if I don't allow the app to remain resident in memory that it's going to cause failures like this? That seems kind of absurd considering it only runs 12.5% of the time. How much memory is sitting there being used by rosetta doing nothing the other 87.5% of the time? If you really think it'll help, I'll give it a shot, but is this just an odd problem with me or does everyone suffer from this? (by the way, none of the other projects stay resident in memory either and this is the only one with problems at the moment!)

yes, for some reason rosetta must reside in memory.. I have the same issue... I no longer do rosetta as well as the other 6 projects I have because it was killing my computer to keep all those projects in memory, even when I do have 1 gig of ram.

Unfortunatly I have been forced to accept no new work from rosetta because I continue to get errors on a daily basis.
when this issue is fixed, please let me know, but since I run 6 boinc projects I cannot keep them all in memory.. it was killing my computer.

probably just a setting the sysop is making to control... there have been some outages lately and that could be.... try increasing the cache size a couple days but then manually try to update to receive files several times so that you can hopefully get more...

I cuyrrently have 5 or 6 in queue.

I have this problem on my windows pc's but not my linux pc's.

Reading other posts on this problems it seems that a temporary workaround is to change your settings so that workunits stay in memory when suspended.

This is a general preference change that will affect all projects.

Hi th4ere and thanks. I did just change the option to remove all from memory since I use 6 boinc projects and it was slowing my computer down WAY too much having all these progranms in memory....

I will see if I continue to get these errors.... maybe I will let it run longer before switching..... I will try a couple things to see what I can do.
thanks.

Hi All, I run several Boinc projects but three times in 2 days now I have gotten to my comp and see the box which says approx " Rosetta has caused a problem and will be terminated" and the message boinc gives is "1/11/2006 8:46:14 AM|rosetta@home|Unrecoverable error for result NEW_SOFT_CENTROID_PACKING_1ogw_225_9368_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))
"

What is going on? I love rosetta and what you stand for but if this is interfereing with other projects I will be forced to shut down rosetta until the problems disappear.

I am running win xp pro sp2 on a sempron 3000 with 1 gig ram and more than 736 gigs of HD space. these errors just started a couple days ago

OK thanks... I wish that minimum system requirements were a must for all BOINC projects. I will be reinstalling windows this weekend so hopefully I can start crunching on the new core by Monday.

I keep getting this error when I try to run ANY and ALL rosetta wu's while all my other projects work fine...

"rosetta@home - 2005-11-10 15:42:26 - Unrecoverable error for result 1hz7A_abrelaxmode_random_gauss_fix_bb_jitter03_51713_1 (Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1))
"

I am running 4.19 (unable to upgrade because of the way boinc was created and fucked up my registry)

Any ideas?? It doesnt say on the website I need the new v5 core to work.
