Fixed one host with the setting here https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/hosts_user.php. Didn't know there was an allow virtualbox option on the host detail page.

I've looked around off and on for this a bit. Want to make sure that requiring VirtualBox for tasks is the expected behavior. There are a few threads on this matter e.g. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=14814#103235. If there is no way around this, could someone please provide directions for the 'thinnest' way to add VirtualBox on Linux? Is there a way to provide VirtualBox it without maintaining another OS instance?

The ca-bundle.crt file on disk was an older version. To make it work, it was replaced with the latest one from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BOINC/boinc/master/curl/ca-bundle.crt . The check network connection message was misleading.

I'm sorry, but CPU upgrades are not recognized as upgraded hosts that could be merged.

Thanks for the reply....that means I'm buying a laptop back. Then, I'll move to a VM with a fake cpu https://superuser.com/questions/625648 /virtualbox-how-to-force-a-specific-cpu-to-the-guest . Not sure why merging restrictions even exist when it is based on factors that can be spoofed. Reminds me of how Microsoft checked if a version of Windows was genuine.

You are increasing speed AND tightening the timings at the same time. Ugh, I really want to build my own setup with premium RAM and play like this :(
I want to wait until the 3rd generation Ryzen tho.

Black Friday and eBay sales :) . I'm only running 8GB in each of my Ryzen boxes. There was a 4x4GB kit for about $100 on eBay when they had a 15% off sale. That's when I went 3000Mhz at CL15. The set was for older Ripjaws 4 memory. Not sure if it matters as the timings and MHz of newer memory hasn't improved much.

The shift to that setup happened on the 23rd. It doesn't seem to have had much of an effect over 2666Mhz at CL16... but it is too early to tell.

Odd request.... more sentimental than technical; here it goes.

After spending around $10,000 dollars in electricity and computers for rosetta@home, the hosts I have are more of an evolution than an actual system. Over the years, the physical boxes have changed hardware and operating systems a few times. The last update of a pair of systems to AMD CPUs led to them being unable to merge. They are easy to see in my profile as I have given them the same computer name.

The issue I have is that the total credits each system has produced represents a cost on my part that has been incurred over several years. I would like that to be effort to be reflected in my hosts' total credits. If there is a way to merge the systems that I have upgraded to support Rosetta@home, will someone with that ability please do so.

Processing bub.lynema.org
Can't merge host 1761295 into 3543067 - they're incompatible

There haven't been many posts in here. Sorry for the dead thread post and all...

The Ryzen 2600X is producing about 10,500 credits per day.

What seems to matter a lot are RAM speed and timings. I'm testing those now on the AMD systems. Going from 2133Mhz CL 16 to 2666Mhz CL16 produced almost a 5% gain in average credits over a 9-day period. I'm testing 3000Mhz at CL 15 now.

The Intel 6700k with 3000Mhz 15CL RAM is doing around 8,750 per day.

Yeah. Sorry for the 500 or so bad WUs rosetta admins. I was running boinc headless and hit this same issue with 3 days of units queued on two fairly powerful boxes.

On my Ubuntu box: apt-get install freeglut3
On my Arch box: pacman -Sy freeglut

That gives me the freeglut library. Can't check to see if it fixes things or not since my machine's account is limited now:

17-Oct-2015 14:26:37 [rosetta@home] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
17-Oct-2015 14:26:37 [rosetta@home] Requesting new tasks for CPU
17-Oct-2015 14:26:40 [rosetta@home] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
17-Oct-2015 14:26:40 [rosetta@home] No work sent
17-Oct-2015 14:26:40 [rosetta@home] (reached daily quota of 8 results)

Guess we are waiting until tomorrow.....

Was also missing libGLU.so.1

]]>

To install the correct libraries that are not pulled in by package management, this is what I'm trying:

On my Ubuntu box: apt-get install freeglu3 libglu1-mesa
On my Arch box: pacman -Sy freeglut glu

Waiting yet another day as I dwell in the pit of quota confinement.

had the same problem and after installing freeglut3 'sudo apt-get install freeglut3' in Ubuntu 14.04 it worked for me again.

Cheers, Chris

Hello Guys

I am on Debian 8 and used the following files to fix the problem (I have now had several work units complete successfully)

apt-get install freeglut3 libglu1-mesalibglu1-mesa

cheers
