Ignore - wrong end of wrong stick!

I think the issue was simply not enough RAM, I am not running on my 4 core PC at home with 8GB of ram and am having no issues, the task is indeed using over 300 MB of ram

Well I have it set for 95% so should not have this problem, I also run "world community grid" and this has never had this sort of issue.

NO NO NO you have misread it, you have made it worse, 5% is what you want NOT 95%!!! 95% means Boinc will NEVER run as the OS uses more than 5%, the numbers are backwards from what you and I would think they should be. Apparently it makes sense to programmers though!

I was refering to the "when processor usage less than"

I am using the general boinc manager I don't know if there is a difference in it's settings

Please review the Rosetta System Requirements. They indicate that 1GB of memory is recommended. 200MB is not going to cut it. The tasks are essentially unable to run in that amount of memory and that is why your CPU is not saturated with work.

Having said that, you can run some on significantly less than 1GB. That is to say that the "minimum" requirement would be less than 1GB. But I think rather then enduring the pain of all the people that are 2% over your stated minimum and reporting sluggish PCs or under-utilized CPUs, they are just publishing this "recommended" figure.

Typical memory usage does vary by the type of work being done, and also varies from release to release. But you should be picturing a number more like 300MB per active CPU working on Rosetta, and as with many things, more would be better.

I'll try it on my home pc as it has 8GB of ram, I've been trying to use my work pc with 1 GB of RAM

Hi

Rosetta often needs more than 200MB of RAM per task - do you mean you've set BOINC to allow 200MB of RAM to be available while the computer is in use?

yes but it stops when the pc is not in use too, i have noticed some ups and downs in available ram, but the tasks properties say that it needs 95 MB of ram. and I've only see it go to about 30 so far. Maybe i should take it off this Pc and run on a more powerful one and let this one do WCG only

I'm on my first Rosetta computation running Rosetta Mini 3.19. Computation seems to be more time stopped than running and rarely 100 % of the processor, I have made 200MB of ram available and 100% of processor, so why is this happening ?
