Posted 22 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: Well I talked to one who had an online chat. Only one, I was tired at the time. Point being I was looking at a i5 quad that was like 19 bucks a week, the difference and only differnce being that if you pay it off in three months you dont have to pay the rental fee. So the computer was 450, not a bad price for a desktop with all the components, but then the renting fee was 500 bucks. I mean im not sure if all of them are like that, but if you dont pay it off in three months forget about it, your spending 500 dollars worth of interest. But this was the site, I persoanlly cant afford 150 a month currently, but Im getting playstation vue, a cable modem so I dont have to rent mine, and a service called magic jack that has 5 years of phone for 99 dollars. Taking what was a 154 dollar cable bill down to 70 bucks. Playstation vue is a tv service if you havent heard of it, its brand new so its alot better than other such services in my opinion. Plus your money goes to japan who suffered 3.11.11. Yea, I build computers so ill probably just stick to that, its alot like legos, everything is plug and play. but just so you know heres the site I went to where you can pay off any and all computers for base price in three months. I think they have a wide selection. Just dont miss a payment or wait to long to pay it off or youll be eating ramen for the rest of your life. http://www.flexshopper.com/computers-tablets/desktops-all-in-one-computers?dir=asc&operating_system%5B0%5D=Windows+7&order=price On a brighter note, the internet is full of billions of webpages. Im sure if you looked hard enough you might be able to pay it off in 4 or 5 months, or even rent on a reasonable scale. I am unintrested right now because I have a 4660 that just needs ram to be up and running, tho I also need a platinum power supply eventually. I guess ram should be at the top of my list when I get paid in 10 days. :D |

Posted 21 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: Well my personal reason for keeping such a big log of files is to not keep connecting to the host server. As-in people in diablo 3 used to quit games to access the auction house to much, each time creating server traffic, blizzard who makes diablo 3 eventually complained and I beleive set up safe guards, cant remember to well. Who knows if this contributed to them removing the auction house from the game. But I was always suspicious of bonus points, and its the first time I actually posted anything about it, as I always *used* to keep a cache. I gotta say over 200 rosetta tasks at a time is way to much, and maybe someone could adjust it to idk, 30 at max comparable to desktops, more for servers. Seems like a waste, because im thinking no one is ever going to count how many days of work they have. Server traffic barely ever goes down, like never ever, thats why its a server. I also gotta thank you for clearing up the bonus points, bothered me for a long time as a ex-cache keeper. But in the end, why risk someone even completing the tasks before you. I personally saw my points jump dramatically when I cleared my 200 wu cue and set to 0 days. |

I would like a response from a possible moderator. Not to hate, but your the first person whos ever voiced otherwise in my humble opinion. |

Posted 21 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: Well what I read on page two of the message boards, and I was guilty of it as well. The number of work units under "store up to an addiction (max of ten) days of work", this number should be set to zero all the time. At first I had it set to 10, and my reasoning being is that if it was set up by rosetta it wouldnt hurt my points. WRONG the setting is set up and managed by berkley so it drastically drastically hurts points. Work units do not complete on time, and they dont receive bonus points. I had to cancel like 200 work units when I read that. Spreading the love~~~ |

Posted 21 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: I think they should constantly improve the code as folding@home does. From personal experience a nvidia 760 gets about 80,000, while after they improved the amd code, a r9 390 pulls down 300,000 points a day. Not sure if they could ever use a amd processor because of its math deficits. But another thought is, you can get a older cpu that would hold its own, say 8 years old, which is an extremely long time, but a 8 year old gpu would be outclassed x100 or even a x1000. |

Posted 20 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: I googled it, found alot of options like rent a center and such. But alot of them dont do credit checks, have 0 apr and have basic computers. Im going to contact a few sites, one tho seemed very basic with about 4 computers as selection. While none of them were quad core, they said that alot of their builds were custom so im going to call them on monday. Also going to call rent a center and the such see if I can get a computer for about 60 bucks a month. |

Will running boinc in server 2008 compatibility mode get points?
(Message 79761)
Posted 18 Mar 2016 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: So ive been doing alot with my computer the last two days. I upgraded all the kb packages from windows download center, along with bios, chipset, and general tweaking. Thing is I was wondering if running in server compatibility mode would help? I know actually having a server license for gpugrid doubles your points. I also oc'ed my mobo by about 3000 mhz and cheated on ram speed. |

Posted 21 Feb 2014 by ssoxcub@yahoo.com Post: As I was trying to find 4th generation i7 compared to first, xeon vs 920. I quit because if opteron can be used it should be. xeon would probably be in the 200 range anyways. So are opterons as disqualified as there counterparts the FX. |
