1) Message boards : Number crunching : Only 2 cores are being used on quadcore (Message 77566)

I see often enough tasks need up to 1,8gb of ram per workunit. So 8gb would be good for a quad and a nonstop computing. Bad that 8gb are very expensive on ddr2. I limit quads to 2tasks only when they have 3 or 4 gb ram.

Depends if the architecture can use the cores at the same time. My Quad in the Galaxy S3 can only use one CPU with full speed. Using all 4 cores increasing the crunchtime by 4. So crunching with only 1 core dont eat up the battery to much too, so it doesnt matter when your only crunch with 1 core on THIS device ^^ Its only usefull when running multiple projects at the same time, but this can be done too with serial computing on one core ^^

Oh it seems to be a wrong alert (looks like a bad accident they released a new kind of Units on exactly these days ^^) from me because it resets yesterday on LHC too after i stopped rosetta. After years of running and running on a "dust protected" place i looked into the server and there was a little! compact fine Dust on the outer top and outer left of the CPU Cooler. No problem for the CPU and the temperaturecontroling software but it seems a big for the voltagecontroller/stabilizers near the CPU "under" the cooler on exactly that place. Older Intel Board, it runs stable like hell, but the coolingdesign is made with not much tolerance (for dust) in summer and silentparts i presume O.o or the stabilizer getting old and got lower tolerance over the years. It runs until now with no resets, i will see the next days.

I had running rosetta on my 100% stable fileserver. But after three windowsresets, witch is totaly unacceptable on this system, i deactived that project temporary. I though it could be a new app running on rosetta and lokked into the page. vola. Since 18th there are new ones. It seems this rb units are running unstable.

This Server is running always with local Administratorrights with no changes since 2007. It has still the orginal BOINC v6.10.58 running (as normal Program not service). All other Services that need Admin Rights are running too.

Thx, i started one, here it is:

http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=573726034

Since i have some credits on this machine, it seems that it runs a longer time ago, but had it between a longer time on WCG and Docking, but want to bring now one core from this machine back to rosetta for a while, because the projects are more worthwhile for me on rosetta then docking :)

In the supportlist there stands Windows 2000. SO, i tried several times over the last months to get a core2duo machine with Windows 2000 Standart Server running on rosetta. But it always get computing errors on the startup of every WU. So is it now supported or not? ;)
