[quote]So... To continue my testing... I uninstalled everything nVidia, restarted, got some Rosetta tasks, and let them process. The scheduler request (which reported the completed tasks), did not have any blocks for <coprocs>, for <coproc_cuda>, or for <coproc_opencl>.

And guess what. It worked, and the Task details shows "Outcome: Success" and "application version: 3.45"

So...
Rosetta Project admins...

The post right above has the scheduler request that results in Client error.
This post right here has the scheduler request that results in Success.

It seems that the bug may be with your code's processing/parsing of a scheduler request xml block that has 1 or more of the following tags:
<coprocs>, <coproc_cuda>, <coproc_opencl>
... possibly also dependent on the details within those tags.

Please find a way to fix this!
I've done everything I possibly can to help you.
It's on you now to actually fix it!

Until you do, you are WASTING TONS OF PEOPLE'S TIME (since all their work gets invalidated)

Dear Rosetta Admins,
Please respond to JacobKlein's post. Do you acknowledge the problem? Do you agree with the cause? When are you going to fix this? I'm waiting for your reply, and I bet many other volunteers are waiting too. Thanks In Advance, Rick

It should be safe now with the new app update. If you have any 3.43 jobs cached or running, please cancel them and update your client to get the new app update.

I can confirm 3.45 works without issues. Thanks for the quick response and update David. Rick

This is an easy fix on our end of course.

The database issue that I mention on the news is also being dealt with in this update. In the current update we added a new database file that would allow us to automatically generate protein fragments on the fly which would significantly reduce the turnaround time for many targets we process on our automated server Robetta. We decided to remove this file since it increased the size of the database over 2x and the file would not be used for a majority of the our BOINC jobs, and some users have reported issues that might be related to this (issues of possibly hitting disk space limits, etc.) There are other options we can pursue that will not require adding this file to the R@h application package.

Thanks for the update David. Is it safe to accept WU's again? Rick

Moderator David, We REALLY need an update. What's being done to correct this problem? When can I start accepting WU again? Besides giving Rosetta@home a bad name, this pop-up issue is giving BOINC a bad rap. For the good of all science, please withdraw 3.43, then PLEASE give us an update, we haven't heard from you for quite some time. Rick

That actually sounds like the screensaver. Would it be asking too much for a screenshot. You can email it to dekim at u. washington .edu

Does it look like the images on:

I downloaded another WU, with same pop-up results, just realized I don't know how to do screen shots:( I think it's the same screen you get when you highlight a Rosetta WU and click on show graphics. Rick

what do the pop-ups say?

we may have to revert our update if this is the case.

They have a black background, with gray lines and letters. The screens make reference to Rostetta, and seem to be showing program tables. Please let us know when it is fixed. I'm not allowing new tasks until I hear from you. Rick

Rosetta 3.43 is causing multiple pop-ups on my screen when running. If I close the pop-ups, others appear. The pop-ups do not happen with 3.41. This pop-up phenomenon has just started to occur, and has happened to me on two different desktops (both Windows 7,BOINC 7.0.28 x64). I had to abort the workunits, then the popups stopped. Rick

I also have completed work units failing to upload on two different computers(although some work units are uploading wihout any problems). Below are the Message Lines from the Event Log. Will the Rosetta Team be resolving the problem discribed above, or do I need to manually do something? Please help:-s

Please review my original comment here

I had read your post, but didn't understand it to mean the problem WOULD self correct. Rick

I think that you are asking for validate errors with this method because it is quite possible that the server that a work unit is assigned to is the only one that can validate it.

=====
Not true. I had no validation problems, and received credit for all of the uploaded work units.

Right, it would be possible for a project to set up their servers in such a way that you'd earn yourself a validation error. I do not believe R@h's server configuration will have any problem with the specific of which upload server is used, since they all feed the same underlaying database and data store.

All I meant about the "etc." is that there are numerous ways to redirect the host name and achieve the same result. The other thing is to put it all back when you are done, although the potentially riskier approach described with modifying the client state file avoids that. I say "riskier" because there are certainly very simple ways to corrupt that file and end up trashing all of the tasks you have. Not riskier for your computer, just for your earned credits and current task list.
