Posted 5 Dec 2017 by ![]() Post: Since installing BOINC Manager 7.8.4 on my Mac I find the kernel_task using 70 to 71% of CPU capacity instead of its normal 1%. Quitting BOINC manager returns kernel_task usage to normal. The only Project I'm running is Rosetta@home, limited to 3 processors. If I suspend the Project the processes don't stop, and the kernel_task still runs at 70%. Quitting BOINC and relaunching it with the Project suspended sees kernel_task running at normal low levels. Un-suspending the Rosetta@home Process sees kernel_task again running at 70%. Is this a BOINC problem, a Rosetta@home problem, or a local problem? Posted 18 Jan 2011 by ![]() Post: Okay, I think I fixed this. It was totally my fault and I'm sorry. After looking into this issue, I realized that the scheduler binaries (which I had to recompile after the crash) was not from the same source as before the crash. I updated the binaries and they should now recognize the "alt_platform". Thanks for all your input on this issue. Well done! My Mac (MacPro 5,1; 2.8GHz, MacOS 10.6.6) is happily crunching R@h again. Posted 16 Jan 2011 by ![]() Post: Did your 64bit Macs work with R@h before the disk failure? The server has not changed so I'm a bit puzzled. The client should just get the 32bit version. I'll look into adding the 64bit version soon regardless. My setup worked well with R@h before the disk failure. Nothing has changed at my end since the last successfulk R@h task. As part of my initial trouble-shooting I reset the project, so can't quickly determine when the last R@h task was crunched here. |
