One of my results partially uploaded before getting stuck. So -as mentioned- the server is probably throttled but not dead.

I have 54 entries waiting to be uploaded...

I'm glad I had a queue on most of my little farm...only one is out of work right now but all of them have almost 3 days worth to upload
(some with partial uploads)...somewhere over 300 results to upload now.

Oh well...here's hoping they get to the bottom of this soon.

Same here...Win XP, 7, 8 and 8.1...all were running fine until sometime yesterday, then no uploads and very, very few downloads (I was adding a new machine and was only able to get 4 units downloaded in the last 15 hrs). Machines are at different locations, different networks and ISPs, all running most recent software and were running fine until yesterday.

Not sure where the issue is, but it is not on my end, sounds like it is a common issue for multiple users and is very frustrating.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Issue - BOINC, Rosetta or ?? (Message 73096)

I had no restriction on the amount of memory BOINC / Rosetta could use while it was running...the machine is a secondary one I use for conferences and travel, so when I'm not out and about it is free to do BOINC / R@H work with everything it's got.

Looking at some of the other units coming through on my other machines and how those other machines have been running them, it looks like my poor little netbook must have pulled every huge unit it possibly could...it simply doesn't have the resources to fill the work unit requirements for this spate of big units. The few bigger ones it could do, it did only run one at a time....but 1GB of RAM just isn't enough for some of these monsters.

Unfortunately, it looks like there is no mechanism in place to get these units back to R@H efficiently. If the work unit is sitting and won't let the machine do other units while that unit is waiting for resources that won't come, it appears it will continue to sit there until the big work unit hits deadline...and all it does is take the machine out of service.

I'll keep my eyes on the files I am getting on the other machines and if/when the big units subside, I'll throw the little machine back into the fray for the project again.

Hey all,

One of my small machines (Atom powered Netbook, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD) has been running BOINC on Linux for quite some time (it is a Linux native netbook). Less than a week ago, it went to pot...lots of no progress units, lots of 1 unit active but "waiting to run" (nothing else was running on the machine and I have no restrictions on CPU use).

I tried an upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 and re-installing the BOINC client and Rosetta. No dice...more of the same. I know it isn't a boatload of power to help, but every little bit helps, right? Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas...otherwise I'm pulling Rosetta from it.

Thanks.
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Anyone using Dell Mini9 or Atom CPU? (Message 72292)

I just got a Dell Mini9 netbook...Atom processor with 1gig ram and Windows XP.

Anyone have any stats on what I should expect if I run BOINC on it 24x7? Any computers that you have that I can look at...RAC stats?

I see the netbook industry as crushing the traditional laptop industry by end of 2010 if not sooner (yes there will always be people who want a high powered laptop but for most of the public, they just want a nice thin laptop to check email, surf, upload some photos).

Anyway, any stats or help would be greatly appreciated!

-Eric

They don't pump out a lot, but every little bit helps. If you look at my stats (The_Saint_LDS), I've got my Dell Mini10n (linux) running basicaly 24/7 and you can see what to generally expect. XP might reduce it a hair, but probably not much.

Dave (or anyone else),

Any idea how to do this on a non-windows system...my ubuntu systems are totally full and unable to send anything back or get anything new because of this issue.
