Ok, changed that and am getting WUs now

But I can guarantee you I did NOT change it to stop work being issued

your link doesn't help

"allow" is specified and Virtual Box runs fine for LHC

Thanks

Why oh why does ROSETTA have to everything in their own no-intuitive way

I've verified that "allow" is selected for my one computer

I have RAM available

Server Status says ~5K jobs available (and has for about 3 days)

When I click update, I see this in the log

2022-03-25 7:57:36 PM | Rosetta@home | update requested by user
2022-03-25 7:57:39 PM | Rosetta@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
2022-03-25 7:57:39 PM | Rosetta@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU
2022-03-25 7:57:41 PM | Rosetta@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
2022-03-25 7:57:41 PM | Rosetta@home | No tasks sent
2022-03-25 7:57:41 PM | Rosetta@home | Project requested delay of 31 seconds

three projects with equal or lower resource share are all getting WUs on a regular basis

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you assist a totally clueless brother cruncher?

I've looked everywhere I can think of and cannot find that option

Where is it ?

Thanks

"As long as they get something around a 95% clean result (perhaps as low as 90) then they are happy."

really?

In the last 2 1/2 days I have had 140 "Error while computing" results My wingmen have all had the same results

They are NOT getting any results at all, and are awarding NO credit for these jobs

I've just replied to a similar query on the Minirosetta 3.52 thread. Have you tried all the normal fixes suggested in the BOINC FAQs?

[quote]Rosetta mini 3.52
event log: exited with zero status but no finished file
if this happens repeatidly you may need to reset the project.
Well it seems it happens quite a lot! should I reset the project?

That is a random BOINC bug that can affect any project and is not specifically a Rosetta issue.

[/quote}

Except that I've NEVER seen it except on Rosetta in almost 13 years of crunching. AND only appears on Rosetta right now.

The first time, several years ago, I was advised to set up internet time syncing

Now they say do NOT use time syncing??

@Timo

"Some people here are incredibly immature and demanding - I'm talking to those who are stomping their feet and threatening to leave the project just 12 hours into what I'll call the work download/upload outage. Grow up people."

The problem is, it is NOT 12 hours into this, it is more like five days

Which is PLENTY Of time to at least acknowledge that there IS a problem

I just watched a WU download in the Boinc Manager Event Log. The Console never showed the WU in "Downloading" status as I am used to seeing, and now the download is complete, there are a bunch of files in the Rosetta directory of the Projects Folder, but still no job in Boinc Manager

So what happened to the WU?

Will be fireing up an old K6 in a while, wonder if that will run Rosetta? Think not, can onlt get 192 Megs ram in it without buying more.

Should be fine. I've got a PII/400/192MB/Win98se that runs Rosetta with no problems (well, very few problems ;-) )

I've got one machine PIII/1Ghz/Win2K that has errored every WU it got in the past week.

All my other machines have a few, occasional, errors. They range from PII/400/Win98se to a mix of P4/W2K to a P4/3.0/XPPro - All set to "Leave in Memory"

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why the one W2K machine has problems

Post:
I keep getting the message

"SUSPENDING COMPUTATION AND NETWORK ACTIVITIY - USER IS ACTIVE"

No updates or new work is being received... What the heck is going on!?

From My Account, General Preferences, set "Do work while computer is in use?" to YES

If it is set to NO, BOINC will stop if it detects other usage of the computer
15) Message boards : Number crunching : WU Started then switch to new computer no results posted (Message 9320)
Posted 19 Jan 2006 by keputnam
Post:
What you could have done was transfer the directory as you did, but disable network access in BOINC on the fater computer, then when the work units finished, copy the directory back to the slow machine and let it report from there.

A WU must be returned by the machine that downloaded it to get credit for it

Rom is expecting to tackle the reinstall vs. update issue in the next round of testing. So hopefully we will see this in the 5.4.x versions whenever they come out.

Outstanding!

Post:
A minor but irritating gripe is that we STILL cannot select to run as a service under the Local System Account from the installer. We have to install to a named user, then stop the boinc service and change the startup.

Also, if doing a version upgrade, why doesn't the installer just update the current install by default, why make us tell it what install option to use?

But I agree - the multi-project pluses far out-weight this.
18) Message boards : Number crunching : Windows 98 question (Message 7076)
Posted 21 Dec 2005 by keputnam
Post:
Bill, the problem with Win9x and "Leave in Memory=Yes" is that when a science app is paused, the execution timer continues to run. With two science apps, this will effectively double your "cpu time" as far as Boinc is concerned.

I've got an old PII 400 ( http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=2303 )running Rosetta, Predictor and SETI. It is set to "Leave in Memory-No". It has very little useage other than as a cruncher and about 1 in 12 Rosetta units fail.

Just to update, it's now 2 days later and still the same error (02/11/2005 8:16:02 PM|rosetta@home|Temporarily failed download of rosetta_4.78_windows_intelx86.exe: error 500
). I'd really like to crunch for this project, so even if it requires me to delete all my boinc data or something I'm still willing to give it a try. Seems everybody's a little stumped for now though:P

They seem to be having server problems today. Most/many are not able to download new WUs
