1) Message boards : Number crunching : Problems with version 5.90/5.91 (Message 50220)

I am running rosetta_beta_5.91_i686-pc-linux-gnu. The problem I am
having is showing completion of 100% and not moving on to the next task.
I will go away for the weekend and find that the machines have been stuck
doing nothing.

If I suspend the task, it never reports and if I resume the task it never completes.
My only option is to abort the task and lose the credits.

Help!

I am sorry to be slow to respond to you. I appreciate the thoguhtful answer.

You mention a watchdog timer. How is that configured? I do not find anything named watchdog in my preferences. Please give me a clue as to where that might be.

Is there a users manual that explains all of the hidden configurations?
I would love to remote control all of my computers running rosetta but they seem
to reject remote logins from clients. They only seem to respect logins from
localhost.

Sincerely,

Clare Jarvis

There is a problem with some tasks getting stuck. They do not seem to progress to completion. I now that if a task has not completed in 3 hours on my computer, that it will never complete. I have complained about this in the past but there doesn't seem to be a solution. I would like to have the start date and time rahter than or along with the completion deadline. Rahter than waiting a day or too and realizing that my computer is tuck and my averages are doing down, I would love to just abort any uncompleted tasks after tree hours.

I have been having similar problems. I cannot
leave Rosetta alone or it simply hangs. But if I
visit and hit "Update" every day then I get much better production.
Is this a problem with Rosetta or with Boinc. It is very frustrating.
I wish the statistics page had the start time and date of each
run along with the deadline.

How can I get some real help. I let the computer run uninterupted for 100% of the day 24/7 and my dual processor xeon PC running Linux cannot complete its assignment in the time allotted. The results section of Rosetta at home shows that my computer had 99.99% of the time to complete its assignment but -100% connection to the interent. What does -100% connection time. This machine always has access to the internet. It wsits behind a router that is already connected and is always connected. No body at Rossetta@home has every contacted me about my concerns that my computer stall on its project. If they don't care then maybe I should care and switch to a differenct project where somebody does care. This is a cry for help. Somebody care.
6) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Boinc and/or Rosetta stalls. How about a result in last 24 hours? (Message 10982)

Post:
My rosetta seems to stall if I do not check its status daily. This happens when I go away and leave my computers to crank away. It is not easy to detect because there is no display of accomplishments, just displays of averages. If your computer has been cranking out big number for a month and then doesn't do anything for 24 hours, it is hard to detect because it barely dents an average, but that is still 24 hours of lost productivity.

I daily, and 6 hour productivity figure would be handy.

I been away and no one has been using my computer but boinc seems to be stuck. Is there any way I can see what it has completed in the last 24 hours? With an average, your rate falls and you don't even know that the computer is doing work. Why don't they publish a current rate for the user.
