1) Message boards : Number crunching : Poor Credits for w/u twice the size???? (Message 41534)

Post:
I've been doing my forementioned study of different crunch time settings. Within this are included both the large decoy/runtime and small decoy/runtime. Thus far, I've seen little difference in the amount of "granted credit/hour" for either runtime or # of decoys done. I'm presently doing the 12 hour runs, then tomorrow I switch to the 24 hour setting for several weeks. I don't see much difference across a range of machines from Celeron 500 to AMD64 X2 6000.

Hi Astro....great study! Thanks for the info as this is something we've wondered about as well.....Cheers, Rog.

We have been having random upload problems as well.....I don't know if this is another symptom of the same problem but it is usually rectified by stopping BOINC and doing a restart. Next time we'll try the suspension of nwk traffic option suggested by Mod.Sense....thanks for the tip....Cheers, Rog.

Well, we have at least 6 good reasons.....the health of our grandkids. (see avatar) Maybe us too if we are lucky!....cheers, Rog.

Post:
I know this has been discussed before but we have new types of WUs (ie RNA etc) now and I was wondering if there is an optimum run time that the Devs would like us to use?.....Thanks, Rog.
7) Message boards : Number crunching : Claimed/granted credit (Message 39060)

Post:
I would like to thank the Rosetta gurus for their usual timely and incisive answers to the credit wobbles.....however, the bottom line is still the same: if it's not possible to fairly accomodate AMD crunchers (as an example) with this credit system, then Rosetta will lose them to other projects......

Our claimed/granted numbers are bouncing all over as well. There seems to be very little stability or logic behind the numbers. It's too bad Rosetta can't develope a credit system to equal the high standards it achieves with its science and level of Admin communication. I'm the last person to suggest that the credit can of worms be opened again but IMHO Rosetta is losing crunchers because of it....:(....

Not a problem....it's in plain view!....Cheers, Rog.

Two projects with the same 'Resource Share' seem to run just fine together. We also have run R@H and E@H this way without any loss of productivity...(^^).

Hmmm. Maybe I am thinking about "User of the Day", then. Where is that?

UOD is posted on the Rosetta home page...(^^).

I really appreciate the time you took to explain to us 'crunchers' what you hope to accomplish and how we can help in your quest. Starting today, we are running 100% Rosetta.....Thanks, Rog.
