You can crunch Amicable Numbers using a 1080, 1650, 1660, or 3050
https://sech.me/boinc/Amicable/gpu_list.php

Noted, thanks, but it's not a project suited for me

I completely understand. It is deeply disappointing when projects that I have loyally supported for years decide to no longer support my hardware. And it's almost as disappointing to find projects that I want to support, but won't support my hardware. But the number of projects that support my hardware (AMD GPUs connected to Intel-based Macs) has been steadily shrinking. AFAIK, Amicable Numbers is the last one.

And, I understand that the developers of BOINC projects are under no obligation to support legacy hardware, particularly niche legacy hardware like mine. Still, it hurts to be marginalized.

Looking at your numbers, you're running your projects enough for both of us
Probably enough for 100 of us!

On Intel based Mac with AMD

I think that Einstein has some Applications that might fit

Well we hit a lull and if I look for a bright side ... the last period of strong production coupled with what appeared to be smooth communications is refreshing.

I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best when work returns. Until then alternate Projects

If you study the Grafana dashboard for Rosetta you can see when large groups of work were released and when tasks were generated to be released.

I became "top 5% RAC" instead of the original "top 25% RAC", but I have not upgraded or introduced new hardware in any way. This is bad because it probably means some top computation contributors left the project due to system instability.
Many of the huge core count systems would be set and forget corporate systems- they attach them to the project to give them a workout before they go into production. If they notice they're not getting their workout, they'd probably just move them to another project with work- they're not going to spend the time trying to figure out what the problem is and how to work around it.

There are now 10 128+ CPU core/thread listed as the Top 10.

While many are running Microsoft Server. Not all of them.

Randy Stack an interesting mix of Hobbyist/Corporate.
I am a hobbyist.

If you sort by Total Credit, it is clear that most of the still active systems are probably hobbyist. And most are not high core count systems.

I expect to run completely out of Rosetta tasks overnight. I have about 8 hours of tasks that have not been started yet. I have turned on a bunch of "0" resource projects. I am hoping some of them will keep my (potentially) bored system busy.

WCG seems to be out of tasks.
Einstein at Home and Milkway both appear to have tasks available.
I think PrimeGrid will never run out of tasks. :)

Apparently CPU-based biology/medical projects are just not very active.

Respectfully,

Tony,

Looking for Medical CPU Based ,,,,, Denis@Home is and has been primarily Heart related research for years. They recently restarted with a new Beta Application that has settled in nicely.

Give them a try if you haven't already.

Having Tasks lay around in "Ready to Report" status is no fun to look at .... But I notice that the Science appears to be completed and I appear to be getting credit .... So ugly to look at.... but the Task data appears to be getting through.

Why is it that in the Tasks tab, all of my work units show that they will be late (Completion before deadline) and already are late based on the deadline column. I'm on a 12 core Mac and all of my other project burn through units, but the Rosetta one consistently has them all run late. I've even tried tweaking settings to give it a higher priority, but still consistently late.

The Tasks that your computer has completed have a very long compute time. Under your account for Rosetta look at your Preferences for Rosetta and see what you have for a Targeted "CPU Run Time. ? Standard is 8 Hours

We joined about the same time but I have not been as focused on Rosetta as you have been ,,,, I have spread myself across a lot of projects .... But I favor Science based projects.

Like you in for the long run,

Even with the documented issues on the Project Servers I have had enough tasks on three active systems to move up 547 positions on BOINCStats in the last 30 days.
So some things are still working ok.

The sad truth is that the people who take care of the software/hardware, i.e. the sysadmins, and the people who use the software, i.e. the biochemists or whatever they're called) seem to live in different realities.

And some of us question if either the Sysadmin's or the Biochemists ever poke their noses into the Forums. A once a month visit should be the minimum in my opinion.

One other project for Science if you happen to have a Nvidia GPU available and ready for work is GPUGRID@HOME

Also a Science project

Although it's clear enough already that the majority of registered accounts were purged I just wanted to chime in as another person who was affected

Let's let the dust settle and find out what actually happened and what can be done. The Server Status page shows 1.3M users with credit so the majority of registered users have NOT been deleted.

Actually I never "walk away" from any Project that I compute for on any of my systems. I only set a Project to "no new tasks" if the Project Admin forecast's an extended outage. I continue to crunch Rosetta and Ralph work as it is available. But I don't modify any of my systems for the benefit of a single project unless the change is neutral or beneficial top all projects.

Have safe and wonderful Holidays

Is an Incremental release of an newer upgraded Rosetta Application in the works ?
