We joined about the same time but I have not been as focused on Rosetta as you have been ,,,, I have spread myself across a lot of projects .... But I favor Science based projects.

Like you in for the long run,

Even with the documented issues on the Project Servers I have had enough tasks on three active systems to move up 547 positions on BOINCStats in the last 30 days.
So some things are still working ok.

The sad truth is that the people who take care of the software/hardware, i.e. the sysadmins, and the people who use the software, i.e. the biochemists or whatever they're called) seem to live in different realities.

And some of us question if either the Sysadmin's or the Biochemists ever poke their noses into the Forums. A once a month visit should be the minimum in my opinion.

While we are waiting for Rosetta and or SiDock and using alternate projects to satisfy our Science needs...

One other project for Science if you happen to have a Nvidia GPU available and ready for work is GPUGRID@HOME

Also a Science project

Although it's clear enough already that the majority of registered accounts were purged I just wanted to chime in as another person who was affected

Let's let the dust settle and find out what actually happened and what can be done. The Server Status page shows 1.3M users with credit so the majority of registered users have NOT been deleted.

Actually I never "walk away" from any Project that I compute for on any of my systems. I only set a Project to "no new tasks" if the Project Admin forecast's an extended outage. I continue to crunch Rosetta and Ralph work as it is available. But I don't modify any of my systems for the benefit of a single project unless the change is neutral or beneficial top all projects.

And yes Conan is on target if Rosetta is running Ok.... fine.... else-wise good science is available on SiDock or Einstein or Milkyway.

Well we are about 4 years out from the last release of the Rosetta application. And of course we have had 4 years of BETA versions.

Is an Incremental release of an newer upgraded Rosetta Application in the works ?

I question why an update for Universe@home is being posted on the Rosetta@home site ...

It's good information but is off topic

While we are waiting for new Rosetta tasks another Science based project that supports Windows, Linux and Mac ... CPU's and / or GPU's is Asteroids@home

I have been running the project since January of 2013.

Clarifications on Milkyway and Universe

Milkyway ended one application that did use either CPU's or GPU's and now the remaining application only runs CPU work

Universe is on pause while the University and the Family of the principle Lead on the project work out a path forward.

Both are worthwhile projects and are valid science efforts. Hopefully the Universe project will find a way to move forward soon.

Milkyway since July 2009
Universe since June 2016

You two guys are having too much fun to be doing this by your selves, Since we have lots or users with different configuration's I figured that I would help muddy the waters a little more.

I you are running Windows 10 or newer some GPU's can do more of there own scheduling without as much CPU involvement.... please see below this is mostly old news.

-----------------------------------

On Windows 10 version 2004 Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling was added if your Video card supported it and you had (NVIDIA version 451.48, AMD version 20.5.1 Beta) (or newer) installed. Theory being off loading the CPU with the GPU scheduling that the GPU could do for it's self.

You can Google "Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling"

https://www.howtogeek.com/756935/how-to-enable-hardware-accelerated-gpu-scheduling-in-windows-11/

Have Fun

I'm having two problems.

First, there's no work.

Second, I'm running two computers and I have one task on each. But Rosetta isn't showing up on the other one.
OK. Since Rosetta isn't sending me any work just now,, there's nothing to show. But I probably would have been aware of this earlier, had I seen it on my other computer.

So, I think the first problem is more important. are others getting work? Is there some reason I'm not? What can i do/

Thank you.

Ross
Vbox (python) always available.
Traditional 4.20 work, intermittent. I see a batch every few days that is eaten up within a few hours.

If you can't do the python stuff, attach to something else, (e.g. WCG which has cancer work continuously and a bit of Covid) and leave rosetta asking for work too, so you'll get some batches of 4.20 when it comes.

Looking at the details of your computer its hard to tell if you have Vbox or not.
If you have Vbox then you need to check the details page about your your computer and make sure that Python is allowed. We discuss that in detail over in number crunching.

Another project to join up with is SiDock. Fast turn around tasks. Also protein folding.
Another one is QuChem. Also a protein folding group.
No high memory demands like Python here. You need around 2.5GB of memory per core if you going to run Python dedicated on your machine.
And for better help, come post your story over in number crunching. There are a couple of guys there that are really good at this.

You may want to reload BOINC on your 2nd system that is not communicating with Rosetta it's last connection was on 1 Oct 2021, 2:09:53 UTC. Both of your systems have fairly old versions of BOINC installed (7.16.11 from Sept 2020. The current version is 7.16.20 and can be down from https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
