1) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : closing boinc manager now kills client (Message 99086)

I just upgraded my openSUSE linux machine to 15.2. I installed boinc manager v 7.16.6 from the openSUSE repos. All runs properly except that when I shut down the boinc manager that kills the boinc client. I find this behavior most annoying, i.e., keeping the manager minimized on the task panel to keep client running.

Previously in openSUSE 15.1, used until last week, closing the boinc manager did not kill the boinc client. I accumulated 1.2 million statistics points letting client run for months during which time boinc manager was started and stopped countless times. I don't know what version of boinc manager was in the openSUSE repos under 15.1 that I was running at the time but I will find out and try to switch back to that version.

I have verified this behavior many times. Is there an option somewhere to change this behavior?
What boinc manager version do have to revert back to to get a manager that doesn't kill the client?

thanks tom kosvic
