Looks like the vdi gets copied into each slot as well as residing in the project folder causing disk usage to explode compared to being able to run 5-6 concurrent tasks without virtualbox. Might be worthwhile to evaluate some of the options to share disks between VMs as mentioned on https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch05.html so that users can continue to run many parallel jobs without excessive disk usage. Another option would be to pick a much smaller base image. Vagrant debian/centos base images are in the 1GB range IIRC.
