It helps move us closer to a cure for some of the worst diseases known. 8. Ties me into the scientific community. 7. Makes me think more about how I can help in general. 6. Makes me think about issues I have not considered before (specifically, community computing). 5. Gives me something cool to talk to my kids about. 4. Engages my kids. 3. Good karma. 2. Did I mention helping find a cure for cancer? 1. It is the right thing to do.
