21) Message boards : Number crunching : Return to Rosetta (Message 101002)

Hi,
I'm a UofW alum who's returning to Rosetta after a few years with World Community Grid.
I'm finding a delay in posting stats to boinc/boincstats. Is this normal?

I've switched a miniPC to Rosetta after a year or two and find that nothing runs.
I have work units with a status of 'ready to start' but they never start.
Activity set to 'Run Always' etc... etc...

23) Message boards : Number crunching : Major problems... multiple machines various errors + 100% complete lock down (Message 53949)

It seems that Rosetta is undergoing some growing pains. I live in Seattle on the block with one of the programmers. I need to buy him a few beers to really hear what's going on. If you surf my machines you'll see problems all over the place. The biggest annoyance is associated with locking up the client.

It seems if a work unit is approaching expiration, it indicates that it is running on High Priority. It seems to me that this is a flag for trouble. If a unit is running high priority, it will lock up the client when it reaches 100%. I have 1 intel Core 2 Quad and 1 Core 2 Duo and both are showing this behavior. My overall productivity has taken a beating due to these irregularities.

In addition to this, I'm seeing lots of segmentation faults and misc. programming errors. I'm thiking this is not machine based but somehow related to the code in the application.

I'm getting errors from all sorts of machines.

I get too many restarts errors on a machine with the "keep in memory" option selected. This is an AMD64 machine.

Here's an error I'm seing on another machine Intel Core 2 Quad:

stderr out

<core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process exited with code 1 (0x1, -255)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
Graphics are disabled due to configuration...
# cpu_run_time_pref: 10800
# random seed: 3358807
ERROR:: Exit from: fullatom_energy.cc line: 1958

</stderr_txt>
]]>

It seems things are suddenly unstable. People are suggesting my machines are showing bad memory but I don't really buy this.

ARe others seeing issues with Rosetta?

I'm getting a strange error on one of my machines.
You can take a look at the details of my Quad Core machine for the nitty gritty.

What does this mean? I can't find any reference to this error using a search on this site.

Any help would be appreicated.

Thanks.

26) Message boards : Number crunching : AMD64 machine removed from Rosetta - mostly errors - few credits (Message 52925)

I don't have "Leave in memory"

I'll try this and see if I can get it to function.

I'll also run the pre-boot memory tests if Rosetta continues to fail.
I'll repost with results.

Thanks for the reply

I have 7 machines working on BOINC projects. I had them exclusively working on Rosetta until I checked the performance of each machine. I noticed ver few credits coming from my AMD64 machine. Upon review I saw that most of the work units were receiving errors with no credits granted.

Are ther problems with the Boinc client on the AMD64 platform?

I'm using Ubuntu 8 and have installed the Boinc client using the integrated application management platform so I assumed this was the most stable way of running Boinc.

After playing with it, I simply interrupted Rosetta and tried SETI which seems to be doing better.

Thoughts?
28) Message boards : Number crunching : More work units per day? (Message 52106)

Hi,

I keep running over the maximum number of work units downloadable per day. Is there any way I can get this increased? I can point my cpu's at another project, but I'd prefer Rosetta.

Thanks
