UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address
(Message 67743)
Posted 15 Sep 2010 by Gil Post: Thank you for your help but unfortunately, i still get errors. The access violation (0xc0000005) errors occurs nearly in every WU but there were two other errors that occured, hopefully this allows someone to point to a possible reason: * task id 364146922 - Unhandled Exception Record - Reason: Illegal Instruction (0xc000001d) at address 0x00518ED1 * task id 364147006 and 364147004 I don´t understand the error but i occured after only 30s (error in zipped file?) I am looking forward to hearing any answer and again thx a lot for your help mikey! |

Posted 9 Sep 2010 by Gil Post: Hi guys, Hi mikey, Thx for your fast reply! I am only running rosetta. I have already played around with some computing preferences. WU are set to "leave in mem" since yesterday, unfortunately, i still get the same error. I have also played with the number of cores to use, no change. I´m starting to think there could be some issue with hyperthreading and win xp? Unfortunately, i cannot turn it off for testing since my bios does not have that option. I will give it one more try right now. I might be missing something obvious but I´m out of ideas right now... Just in case, here are my computing preference settings: Suspend work while computer is on battery power? (matters only for portable computers) yes Suspend work while computer is in use? no 'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 1 minutes Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last (Needed to enter low-power mode on some computers) Enforced by version 5.10.14+ --- minutes Do work only between the hours of (no restriction) Leave applications in memory while suspended? (suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') yes Switch between applications every (recommended: 60 minutes) 150 minutes On multiprocessors, use at most 4 processors Use at most Enforced by version 5.6+ 100 percent of CPU time Disk and memory usage Use at most 15 GB disk space Leave at least (Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 110 GB disk space free Use at most 15% of total disk space Write to disk at most every 5 seconds Use at most 70% of page file (swap space) Use at most Enforced by version 5.8+ 90% of memory when computer is in use Use at most Enforced by version 5.8+ 100% of memory when computer is not in use Network usage Computer is connected to the Internet about every (Leave blank or 0 if always connected. BOINC will try to maintain at least this much work.) 0 days Maintain enough work for an additional Enforced by version 5.10+ 3 days Confirm before connecting to Internet? (matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection) no Disconnect when done? (matters only if you have a modem, ISDN or VPN connection) no Maximum download rate: no limit Maximum upload rate: no limit Use network only between the hours of Enforced by version 4.46+ (no restriction) Skip image file verification? Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example). Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. no If you have any more idea, please let me know. Again, thank you for you help!! |

Strange boinc behavior
(Message 56114)
Posted 30 Sep 2008 by Gil Post: I ran some test and found this out: when one marks the "while computer is in use" preference, boinc runs even after one exits the application. I can however live with the snooze command, thank you very much for your help. |

Strange boinc behavior
(Message 56101)
Posted 30 Sep 2008 by Gil Post: Thanks for the fast reply! I want to manually control boinc. However, when I exit the application, windows task manager shows me that it STILL continues to run! That is what I don´t understand. Mostly, when I use the machine, I want boinc to run. Sometimes and not regularly however, I run cpu intense applications and then I want boinc to stop. In the preferences menu, under processor usage, I can mark/unmark the "while computer is in use" to control boinc but I find this procedure a bit annoying. ( If marked, is that the reason why boinc continues to run even after manual exit?) Thanks in advance! |

Posted 29 Sep 2008 by Gil Post: I have Boinc Manager 5.4.11 installed on my old machine. Here, I simply choose to start boinc.exe by doubleclicking the icon. To stop boinc, I just exit the application. On my new machine however, with version 6.2.19, boinc.exe continues to run all the time even after I (believe ) disabled it through msconfig.exe. In short, I want boinc to start and stop exactly when I choose to do so. The preferences menu does not provide me with this option as far as I know. Can anyone help me on this issue? Thanks a lot |
