I wondered if it was just me! The "Server Status" says all is working, but I've got a batch of work units that have been "Uploading" for several days.
I get a variety of messages from "Project servers may be temporarily down" to "BOINC can't access internet" (which it can, because it is doing for other projects).

I've been having trouble getting work downloaded from Rosetta for more than a week.
Something happening?

Likewise.

I was having the same problem with SETI, which has just (this afternoon) downloaded several WUs after weeks of silence. I think it may be something to do with the latest BOINC update. The PC is busy crunching other stuff, so I'm not too bothered.

I can't find a way to "force" it download new work.

Thanks - BOINC screensaver duly turned off, and Rosetta back on.

I'll see what happens.

SETI is turned off at the moment, too - that's failing in something like 50% of work units, but a different problem with a different solution, I'm sure.

I thought it was just me, till I saw this thread.

My computer locks up daily now if I run Rosetta - I've turned Rosetta off until it's fixed. It was fine until a few weeks ago.

I get the same thing every time. Machine frozen, won't respond to keypresses or mouse clicks; no mouse icon on the screen, and a message from ZoneAlarm telling me that Rosetta_5.36_windows_intelx86.exe is trying to access the Internet. I have to restart it to get it to work again.

Every other programme that's come up against ZoneAlarm doesn't lock up the machine: the others just wait for me to click "Allow" and all is well. Something odd in Rosetta_blahblah.exe, I assume.

I've subscribed to this thread so that I can read when it's been fixed and I can start crunching Rosetta again.
5) Questions and Answers : Windows : Rosetta .exe file crashing machine (Message 30158)

I'm away from home a lot, and use VPN to connect back to the home PC. Since I've been running Rosetta, I've found that I can't connect through the VPN after a few days.

A quick phone call home to reset the PC, and we're back online. However, it's a pesky nuisance.

Why do I blame Rosetta? Well, when I got home last week, the PC was "locked up". I found the problem was a program called Rosetta_(stream.of.letters.and.numbers).exe

I've disabled Rosetta for the moment (and all is well again with the VPN), but can anyone tell me what this .exe file is and how I stop it crashing the PC? I thought BOINC took care of everything?

BOINC is still running, happily processing SETI, Einstein, and others.

The PC: Pentium 4 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM, XP Pro, Draytek V2800G modem/router, usual peripherals.
6) Message boards : Number crunching : why is this machine failing so much? (Message 29834)

Mine's the same. The last several units from this machine have been rejected as "Compute Error" amd "Client Error". After some days of computer time and power, that's not welcome.

SETI just plugs on with never an error. I'm disconnecting this machine from Rosetta.

I'm getting very strange behaviour, too.

I have two machines "running" Rosetta. One never gets any work-units nowadays, and hasn't crunched for weeks - that's running Fedora. If I stop it running SETI, it just sits there doing nothing. I don't know what's preventing it getting work from Rosetta.

The other one (this one) seems to get a heck of a lot of Error messages (Client Error/Compute Error) but I'm not sure what those are. I don't get them with SETI.

A couple of days ago, ZoneAlarm warned me that an .exe file (with a name starting with Rosetta) was trying to run on this machine. Since I didn't know anything about it, I told ZoneAlarm to block it - whereupon the machine crashed. I had to reboot. The .exe file didn't reappear, and we seem to be crunching again.

I'm running BOINC 5.4.9 on this machine - I don't know which version the Fedora box is using.
