Had a problem with this WU on one of my Linux systems:

relax_lbench_mtyka_large_test2_1a32_IGNORE_THE_REST_S_00011_0001004_0_test_10.0.out_4655_1_0

It kept restarting about once a minute. It had been doing this for about 8 hours so I aborted it. Boinc manager showed the CPU time being reset to zero with each restart.

The stdout.txt file had grown to around 14MB. It had a lot of messages about inflating files, which repeateed with each restart.

The Boinc messages tab showed a very large number of messages like:

is this a problem of R@H or is my PII a problem?

kind regards
Sylvio

Howdy, do You see it as a problem if that machine claims ~9 credit per task and the gredit actually given is about 80 ?!?! It that's the "problem" then many people will envy you :-)

Or is there any other problems that I did not catch ?!

CPU time 127601.71875 (35.44 HOURS)
Claimed credit 501.989998586804
Granted credit 20

Mod Sense. I'm pretty sure there's something wrong here. Anyone else spot the problem???? It's not like this issue wasn't posted about early enough on Friday for someone at the project to comment upon it.

Based on the info in the log it seems that it was stuck and the watchdog killed it ( and appreciated your work as 20 credits .. which is not fair for 35 hours work IMHO )

No clue what is wrong with that work unit though ..

The same over here on several computers.

The same over here on several computers.

same here .. As from the same machine reporting to WCG succeeds, the problem should/must in the rosetta ..

5) Message boards : Number crunching : Why do I have 25 workunits queued? (Message 48501)
Posted 9 Nov 2007 by JEklund
Post:
So I got a new Macbook (2.0 Ghz + 2 gig ram) today and one of the first things I did was install BOINC. I added 3 projects, and the first time Rosetta connected I downloaded over 20 workunits. After completing one, it downloaded 3 more! The settings in my profile are set to connect every 0.1 days, so why such a backlog of work? I am worried because there is no way all these units will be completed by the deadline?

Seti and LHC@home did not download multiple workunits. On my other computer (Athlon XP2700+) my queue has 3 workunits of Seti and Rosetta waiting. Any ideas what is up?

What is your 'Connect to network about every' setting? (determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days)

Howdy,
if I got it right he said " settings in my profile are set to connect every 0.1 days"

Or did You mean something else ?

6) Message boards : Number crunching : Merging computers (Message 47936)
Posted 23 Oct 2007 by JEklund
Post:
I have one system (Computer ID 381963) running Windows 64bit and was using Rosetta version 5.8 (I think). The system had accumulated over 200,000 points.

Rosetta detected my OS as:
Operating System Microsoft Windows 2003
Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00)

Then I upgraded Rosetta to version 5.10.20 and Rosetta detected my OS as:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
, Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00)

The Strange thing is that it also assigned my system a new Computer ID (633655).

So I thought, No problem... I should be able to merge them because they are exactly the same system (no OS changes or any modification)... but merge does not see the other host.

It bugs me because I'm having a race with a friend using Rosetta points as the gauge and I have to add the two hosts... (try explaining that to your racing partner) heh.

I hope Rosetta fixes the merge problem... because I'm not about to delete my host.

Howdy,
one thing is amazing: before rosetta upg. it was detected as Windows 2003 and after the upg. it was Windows XP Professional ?!?! Can Rosetta upg. do that :-)

7) Message boards : Number crunching : CPU Comparison question (Message 46297)

Post:
Ok...
....

My Dell's CPU performance from BOINC is:
1482 floating points MIPS
2721 integer MIPS

My Mac's CPU (and there are 2 cores) performance is:
1621 floating points MIPS
4613 integer MIPS

I was really expecting to see at least a 100% improvement in both numbers above. However, I do now know the laymens-term difference between "integer MIPs" and "floating points MIPS"...I always thought floating points was the one to guage a cpu by...

-Eric

But are those performance number for the Mac ( multicore ) actualy per core .. If so the You "see" over 100% improvement ?!?!

At least for my dual-core AMD Boinc says something like :

15/09/2007 12:47:14||Running CPU benchmarks
15/09/2007 12:47:46||Benchmark results:
15/09/2007 12:47:46|| Number of CPUs: 2
15/09/2007 12:47:46|| 2232 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
15/09/2007 12:47:46|| 4119 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU
