21) Message boards : Number crunching : Uploading error (Message 69034)

Well, our luck ran out. The SAN controller that has been causing so much trouble in the last few months finally tipped over in a rather distructive fashion, corrupting the binary tree on which the filesystem is based. We're trying to rebuild the thing but the sheer number of files in the filesystem (> 10M files) makes this process very, very slow. We're bringing the project up from a recent backup (12/09/10) but the backup wasn't a perfect replica of the environment, so we're having to scramble to get all the parts working together again. We only need a few more weeks and then our new, next generation SAN will be ready to be put into place... I just thought the old one would last a few more week. I apologize for the hassle and appreciate your patience as we get things online again... KEL 01/07/11

357381146 357381134 & 357381125 all tasks start with lrm_jorj_combined_tlrm_jorj_combined_torsion. All tasks end with Compute error. I'm thinking lrm_jorj_combined_tlrm_jorj_combined_torsion is a bad bad batch of tasks.

Interesting information thanks. In ab task names there is IGNORE_THE_REST. Why is this in task names? Should we manually press update on our clients to return completed CASP9 tasks or let boinc do it's own thing?

At present I have 37 ab tasks in line. In ab_07_20_T0618_d003_68_172_d003__SAVE_ALL_OUT.IGNORE_THE_REST_09_15_21680_260_0 can someone explain what the 07_20 & 09_15 & T0618 means?

Another example of numbers is ab_07_19_T0616_d000_h002__SAVE_ALL_OUT.IGNORE_THE_REST_04_05_21665_130_1 07_19 & T0616. Would I be correct in saying 07_20 is a date?

Can a Mod please rename this thread to How Are Task/Work units Named? Thanks

1 thing I've noted on my I7 980X is that with ht on ab_07_02 & 07_16 tasks when I open graphics the steps tick over very slowly. When ht is off the steps rool over very fast.

Each workunit is actually only a small part of a bigger unit that was split into smaller ones so our pc's can handle it in an efficient manner.

Is it possible to include something in each work unit graphics to show us what part from the original structure we are working on? I hope this makes senses

& Heidi1 Thanks for info Rosie is in the same time zone as Seti so it makes it nice and easy to work out what the time is in Rosie server land.

That could be a strong possibility. At the moment it's either Thursday 12:04 sm or Thursday 3:04 am in Washington I'm not sure what part of Washington Rosie is located in. It will be like it for a few more hours to come that's assuming the team is working on Xmas eve, otherwise it will be like it for a few days.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year

No, but 129 decoys is a good thing - isn't it ?

Absolutely. Reason I asked was because I thought there was a 100 decoy limit for tasks that had a high model count. I think it was limited because there were upload problems for tasks that had over 100 decoys.

Is the stack overflow issue the reason why mix_score13_env_rlbd_1hz6__IGNORE_THE_RESTlr8_DECOY_16523_77_09 made 129 decoys from 129 attempts?
