Posted 12 Nov 2010 by MacDitch Post: Unlike other BOINC projects, the normal on Rosetta is that only one user is assigned a given work unit. The one you pointed out was assigned to someone that completed and returned it after the 10 day deadline. In the meantime it was reassigned because it had passed the expiration date. I'm pretty sure there is a fix for this in a newer version of the BOINC server code. But Rosetta's servers have not been updated in a while. Fortunately it does not occur very often. So this is 'just one of those things' and is part and parcel of crunching this project? Your client looks to be using a very old version of BOINC as well. You might download and install the current BOINC version here It is, because it suits my needs - unlike the newer versions which overly complicate the working offline aspect. |

Posted 13 Apr 2010 by MacDitch Post: Need more information than that to help. I downloaded happily this morning and yesterday morning so no problem on the site. What message are you getting in teh BOINCmanager? What is the (%age) resource share for Rosetta? What is your 'Connect to' setting? What is your cache setting? |

I just noticed that this task (Rosetta Mini 1.54) has been running for 22hours and has no progress. 0.000% :? Update: The third or fourth sending of this task was completed and reported, so I've just aborted the task rather than waste more time on it. |

Posted 12 May 2008 by MacDitch Post: This computer errors on every Rosetta Mini work unit it gets - immediately! WU 1, WU 2, WU 3 & WU 4 I've literally just done this WU 5 and the messages in the manager were: 12/05/2008 18:09:02|rosetta@home|Starting fa_max_dis_9-1cei_-test_2008-5-6_3222_7535_0 12/05/2008 18:09:02|rosetta@home|Starting task fa_max_dis_9-1cei_-test_2008-5-6_3222_7535_0 using minirosetta version 119 12/05/2008 18:09:04|rosetta@home|Computation for task fa_max_dis_9-1cei_-test_2008-5-6_3222_7535_0 finished 12/05/2008 18:09:04|rosetta@home|Output file fa_max_dis_9-1cei_-test_2008-5-6_3222_7535_0_0 for task fa_max_dis_9-1cei_-test_2008-5-6_3222_7535_0 absent Note: The computer happily crunches on ~15 projects, has had no changes in weeks and does Rosetta Beta without problems... :? Credit Confusion!!
(Message 51841)
Posted 7 Mar 2008 by MacDitch Post: both pages show a granted credit of 8.38! The fifth line down on the work unit summary says Granted Credit: 38.79 although I agree that if you look further down the page at the task details it does say granted credit is 8.38. This is part of why I'm confused! The workunit you mentioned have been run by the minirosetta 1.07. The 1.07 seems to grant less credit compared with the 5.93 on some computers (like mine). I can understand that, but I would have thought a reduction the size I'm seeing would have been flagged if not outright changed. Is this just a one off anomoly? |

Credit Confusion!!
(Message 51836)
Posted 7 Mar 2008 by MacDitch Post: My computer usually takes about 8k seconds to do a work unit and gets awarded ~8-9credits. The last work unit it returned took 3x as long (~25k seconds) and got the same 8.38credits! As I thought this was wrong I started looking into it and got even more confused. Looking at the result page shows a granted credit figure of 8.38 where as looking at the work unit page shows a granted credit figure of 38.8, as reported/requested. Can anyone explain (a) why the granted credit was so low and/or (b) why the two pages show different amounts? Cheers, MacDitch |
