Okay,

So most people show stats in their signature from boincstats.com or boincsynergy.com.

Is there a posted guide on how to do this?

Thanks,

Go to either site,
Take boinc stats http://www.boincstats.com

Go to your nickname there (use the search on the left)
go in to your detailed stats (the bar chart icon)

and you should end up here
http://www.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?pr=bo&id=757851

there you will find the url for your graphic
copy that

Then go to
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/edit_forum_preferences_form.php which is in your preferences at Rosetta, under Forum Preferences.

In the signature area paste that address
then wrap it in the IMG tags
so [img ]copiedlinkhere[ /img] (no spaces, but read the UBB code help link on that page)

What do you do if you don't have a bar code icon?? Can you only do this if you have more than one project going? The only project I have is Rosetta, and I tried this and didn't get a usable image, as you can see below :-(

Woo hoo, I figured it out (see below!) - didn't occur to me that I had to REGISTER with BOINCstats...

welcome aboard hedera.

Registering allows you to post on the BoincStats shoutbox and to use their account manager.

You should not have to register just to use the graphic, as far as I know (someone correct me if this is wrong). As far as I know you just use the search to find out your boincstats page as FluffyChicken described. I don't know why that did not work for you first time. But there is no harm in registering.

Some more details of interest to new users of stats (not just in signatures):

The graphic you are using will automatically include any other BOINC projects you sign up for with the same email address. You can also get from their website the url for a graphic that will always only show your Rosetta stats.

The graphic will always be fairly up to date, even on an old posting. This is because it is refreshed from the stats site at least once per day, depending on the browser settings that are used to view it.

The graphic will never be completely up to date and can be over 24hrs behind, due to delay in Rosetta stats being written to the export area, delay in BoincStats picking them up, and delay in BoincStats processing them. Usually BoincStats is between 12 and 36 hours behind your stats shown on your a/c page here. It can be a lot longer when project related problems arise but Rosetta has always been fairly on the ball with keeping stats etc available.

These points are equally true of stats provided by other stats sites like Mundayweb or BoincSynergy. The sites vary in the appearance of the graphic, exactly what is offered on the graphic, and the user info pages on their websites, but on the big picture all work the same way, from export stats provided at intervals by the project.

To see when Rosetta last exported stats, go to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/stats/ and the "last modified" dates times of the large files in that index are the times of the last exports. There is an index in a similar location under most BOINC project urls. The files in those indexes free for anyone to download, but this is not recommended unless you have the software to catch them! Just look at the "modified" dates.

Thanks for the explanation, River~~. As for not having to register, by now I'm not sure. When I first looked, I didn't know what I was doing; and it's possible there was a stats URL there that I could have used, but I didn't see it. As you say, there's no harm in registering.

Here's the way to set up a BOINC Synergy sig, if you think it's better ;-)

Things might have changed since I worte that, I know a lot of redesigning has been going on.

And as a side, if you use Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)
you can add boincstats to the drop down search.

Goto this page
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/en-uk/default.mspx

on the create your own search section
For member search enter
http://www.boincstats.com/search/result.php?name=TEST
and give it a name such BoincStats Members
hit install..

For team search enter

and give it a name like BoincStats Teams
hit install.
http://www.boincstats.com/search/result.php?name=TEST&search_exact=n&search_type=team
Now search directly from the search bar :-)
